Q: Smallest template for a LaTeX Ph.D. thesis?

ubuntu89234I am looking for a most minimum template/example for a LaTeX Ph.D. thesis. I am going to write a dissertation/Ph.D. thesis. I use Ubuntu with pdflatex (minimum installation of TeX Live). The goal is to keep it smallest as possible for a Ph.D. Thesis, using pdflatex. The use of no packages (use...

\documentclass{scrbook} \begin{document} Hello \end{document} ?
you have maybe some examples for new chapters ??
\chapter{Introduction}
My suggestion is to use either book.cls or article.cls both are nice and almost having general styled environments...
It looks rather ok, but a new chapter, could look nicer like at the template github.com/kks32/phd-thesis-template , herewith the minimum code: \documentclass{scrbook} \begin{document} \chapter{ladskfkl} \vspace{3cm} hello \vspace{3cm} \section{lkdasfjlfds} hello \section{lkdasfjlfds} hello \section{lkdasfjlfds} hello \clearpage \chapter{ladskfkl} \vspace{3cm} \section{lkdasfjlfds} hello \section{lkdasfjlfds} hello \section{lkdasfjlfds} hello \end{document}

@ubuntu89234 Refine your question reediting , not adding comments.
Do not hide essential information in comments but edit your question to make it more clear. BTW: \clearpage before \chapter make no sense. \vspace orgies are almost ever lead to ugly and sub-optimal code.
I do not think it's a duplicate if the OP ask for a "small most minimum" template.
@Fan But then it would be opinion based or too broad, because there's no real definition/specification of a most minimum template/example for a LaTeX Ph.D. thesis. Without more information we could discuss for years which packages, title information etc. are necessary and which are not.
By the way, this might seem odd to hear from me, why don't you just use the template you found?
@Schweinebacke I would agree to close as too broad in the actual form because the lack of specifications of usual elements (graphics? colors? etc.) except taking seriously my first comment (smiles) but anyway, is not a duplicate (more smiles).

@Schweinebacke: as less as possible, if possible. No use of usepackage would be ideal, if possible. It is likely not easy of course.
@ubuntu89234: In this case Fran's initial comment would be a valid answer.
The way you ask a question is not good in a few ways: (1) you have not stated what you consider a small most minimum template. (2) You say we are not welcoming your question. We are, but we see no difference between another post and we see no effort in researching the question before asking. You can fint some examples on Sharelatex and overleaf. (3) Your comment like "you have maybe some examples for new chapters ??" are quite rude, I guess.
@ubuntu89234 Also please mention that your previous versions of the question including phrases like "Can people read and re-read the title of the thread: "Smallest template for a LaTeX Ph.D. thesis?" "Smallest template" means small, right? The wording "Small" means little size." seem to treat us like idiots. Yes, we can see history of edits
@ubuntu89234 If you don't want to use \usepackage you should either make a class, that already loads all packages you need using \RequirePackage or that provides/implements all features you need itself, or you should use only features provided by the class you are using. So Fran's first suggestion to just use a class like scrbook as it is would be a very smart answer. I've marked it as useful in this chat.
