@RoryAlsop the last time quarantines might've worked was in December 2019... Shortly after that the virus spread around to multiple countries around the world and it was already too late
you can use quarantines to delay the inevitable (as New Zealand has been trying to do) but in the end you'll still face the wrath of the virus
now... its easier to face the virus with vaccines in place but in the end you will still have to accept many COVID deaths per year. The UK is planning to have 1000 deaths/week from now until the end of times: theguardian.com/world/live/2021/aug/27/…
@NeanDerThal yes, especially since most countries use home quarantine instead of hotel quarantine. Home quarantine is a joke
China, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand are using hotel quarantine exclusively and it kinda... works. Everyone else is just security theater.
I wish we've stopped playing the pandemic game already and just reopened all borders with no test/quarantine in place for any arrivals. Travel is amazing and I'm so sad that many are being deprived from it.

@JonathanReez you said what i exactly wanted to say, but i was too tired to explain. the virus is out. when two countries are fu$$ed up deeply by covid, then when you travel from one to the other and you have to quarantine,, it is a JOKE and a waste of money, especially if you are vaccinated and have a negative PCR test.
I was deeply screwed by covid by all possible means. I got covid, and it was hard, i wasn't able to meet my kids for more than a year because of the restrictions. I work for an airline and you know what that means, and then when i started to be able to travel i am wasting money on hotel quarantines which are expensive and the food is bad and it is included in the package by force.
@JoErNanO hahaha my pizza friend

It’s especially comical when countries ravaged by Covid are still doing quarantines. Like Vietnam’s Covid situation is so bad that they’re using the military to get people food. But you can’t enter without quarantine despite vaccine and negative test. Same with Thailand, Indonesia, Israel
or countries still not admitting travelers from China

or Australia where they have 1000 local cases in Sydney and a grand total of... 1-5 cases from hotel quarantine per day. One would think they'd use this opportunity to reopen the floodgates to their own citizens stuck abroad but nope...
