@NeanDerThal there's a lot of resistance to lockdowns in the US
starting from Trump himself of course

Not sure how useful this news article is, but it might help some: theguardian.com/money/2020/mar/30/…

@MarkMayo actually i don't remember now (-: maybe about if anyone wants to do a project? or has an idea for one? or maybe I had a coding question I forgot? maybe a coronavirus related coding project?
@NeanDerThal I know! You've solved a couple of my coding problems over the years (-: Thanks man!

@hippietrail Yeah I do, doing coding in school for my final exams and do it as a hobby. Mainly Python, sometimes use Unity and C# to make a game and trying to make an app in XCode and Swift, you?

4:00 PM
first i did it as a hobby when i was a kid forty years ago! then i did at for money in the '90s now i do it as a hobby. these days mostly either C or js. i wanted to learn swift and kotlin a while back but there's so many obstacles that aren't actual coding to do app stuff.
my android devices have some quirks that make them a pain with android studio and apple introduced random barriers to os and osx upgrades that used to work on my mac but stopped. can still use the xcode from a year or two back though.
c# was too ms/windows centric
but yeah don't really have a project at the moment but feel like being more productive in my isolation

@hippietrail So Python might be the choice for you
It's really to set up on your machine, windows, linux, whatever

6:48 PM
@Bernhard i used to use perl a lot before python took off. when i wanted to move away from perl years back, perl python and ruby all had bugs trying to output unicode on the windows console. not long after that nodejs came out and worked with unicode in the console on all platforms out of the box. after a few years some python people took the relevant bug report very seriously and finally fixed it.
by that time i had fully skipped from perl straight to js. i always disliked the python block spacing and when i had to hack on python code it was so much slower than nodejs
i always install python but rarely use it unless i'm playing with code that's out there for python. the same reason i'll touch perl nowadays

If you found something that works for you it's perfect :)
I never really care about unicode anyway
