yay! we all got the "just here for the hat" hat

1 hour later…
01:50
@ZachLipton woo!
@pnuts is in the lead on 14, I'm on 12, @RoryAlsop is 3rd on 8, @Vince is 4th on 7, and @ZachLipton, @mts, @GayotFow, @Willeke are tied at 5th with 6.
02:10
@JoErNanO nowhere to be seen ;)
02:54
pretty pleased with this answer: travel.stackexchange.com/questions/84499/…
03:34
nice work
@MarkMayo I like the event, but I'm one of the people who get them 'by accident', which makes it more fun (for me anyway)

08:05
@ANYONE Are the pin icons here new???
08:43
Why do people flag questions with 5+ answers as unclear? even if you don't know what the question is about, it seems lots of other people do
08:57
An example might help to answer that.
09:18
@ZachLipton I bet if you asked 'what's the best country north of me' you'd probably get some FGITW answers, before it got closed voted as off topic :/
hmm, and somehow I just won a hat called '6' that nobody knows how you get it yet
@ZachLipton I cannot even offer a theory of why for that.
could just be random, but I've seen a couple weird unclear close votes like that
I can believe the person who voted isn't familiar with EFTPOS transactions in Australia, but wouldn't you see that lots of other people seem to understand?
oh good point, I'll update it
10:07
12 close votes in the queue? who's going on a rampage?
@JonathanReez close voting 5 year old questions??
it does look like he's trying to combine a bunch of schengen extension questions, which is nice
yes, that's fair
good fodder for review badges :)
indeed
I'm not sure all the student visa ones he's duping are dupes though
10:13
except I've done over 2000 close vote reviews :/
I'll leave those for others
10:25
I was surprised to learn we don't have a single "Schengen visa extension" question and went on a small cleanup
otherwise I do occasionally close-vote random old questions
usually related to "what should I do in X"
Seems excellent work to me, thank you!
Though I would have preferred the 'target' to be wikied and I skipped a couple of reviews where the Qs were dated earlier than the 'target'.
I think it doesn't really matter which question was first - I went with the one which had the best answer
the oldest one didn't have a good one
Agreed.

I dunno why people think people can travel without clothes when researching brands which can help in having a better time traveling travel.stackexchange.com/questions/84759/…
13:21
Well you've basically asked a clothing question
If we asked "what is Roquefort cheese", it'd be a food question, not a travel, whereas "where in France can I find authentic hand-made roquefort cheese" might be a travel question (although probably crazy broad)
as for where can you get them - the answer is almost certainly just "Shops", or "online". It's very popular in NZ (merino), but I'm sure it's elsewhere too.
14:10
@pnuts the point of tag synonyms is that you don't have to pollute the active questions page by retagging questions wholesale. Please stop and please don't do it again.

@MarkMayo Actually, it's kind of specific to New Zealand in a way. I have read it was basically unknown out of New Zealand until quite recently. You can now find it in outdoors (and Japanese minimalistic fashion) stores in many places but it's still marketed as "that wonderful thing from New Zealand".
14:30
@MarkMayo You didn't make this a competition, so ... :P
@GayotFow That would be great!

1 hour later…
15:52
@Relaxed, @MarkMayo are you speaking of merino athletic clothing or merino wool in general? The latter has been used for outerwear for decades (if not centuries) without necessarily being associated with New Zealand, and certainly without being associated with athletic-style base layers. The Icebreaker brand is from New Zealand, but there are other brands such as Smartwool (US) and ioMerino (Australia). The merino breed of sheep was apparently developed in Australia.
The breed apparently came to Australia from the UK, where it had arrived from Spain.

Appears to be a spammer but I am out of votes at present.
I had a look at all the links and they seem to be to the point and to different sites, so does not look like a spammer to me.
It was two out of two (links the same) at one time but now three out of four.
all the links are to to-from-airports.com, I'd say spam
and they aren't good at answering the question
I missed that, right, reports on the way
he's answering a question that isn't about airports with links to airport parking
17:54
Flagged as spam

Can a mod block a user from editing continusiously? Requests and begging has not worked.

@pnuts, it is YOU I mean, it is very annoying to have to dive 10 pages to find what has happened over the last 24 hours.

I feel that the lack of activity here is partly or maybe even mostly because you overwhelm the site with edits.
I can not imagine that so many edits are needed and even if they are needed, please wait for a couple of days before you do the next batch.
19:09
@MarkMayo @RoflcoptrException Can you please help or at least step into this 'discussion' (although @pnuts part of the discussion is mostly keeping on editing.)

19:26
yeah the site is increasingly unusable for me now

@phoog I am speaking of athletic clothing mostly. Wool in general has been used for outerwear but then softness is less relevant.
Also, there are many other brands all over the world now, as I said it's become very popular, that's not really the point. But SmartWool source their wool in New Zealand actually.
