@ThorstenS. on chat or the site?
On chat you check the user profile
I'm not sure if you can tell length for site suspensions but
The rep will drop to 1
00:43
@ThorstenS. Haha. Beautiful right? Nah, I just got like super lucky this last month :D
@andra This is too much fun. I'm telling people about it haha
@AJHenderson I'd definitely go for a Windows tablet too if they had a great battery life. But as far as I can see, the Surface 3 or some Intel Atom based tablet too are pretty good and I'd rather carry a additional battery with them.
I have an iPad right now and I'm sick and tired of it. Good battery life but completely closed software. Can barely do anything with that garbage. :(
@MarkMayo @Flimzy My current profile picture. I agree, "Bowties are cool"
Also, I absolutely LOVE Doctor Who. :D
Please excuse the iPad selfie. Please? :/
01:42
@AdityaSomani haha, you've made a new friend
it is safe to say I am not an Apple fan
it is also to say I literally hate the company with near every fiber of my being
because I find them to be greedy, dishonest, manipulative, and just about the worst decission maker the industry could possibly have since they don't make any ideas themselves, they just take the ideas of others, figure out how to make it "pretty" and then sell it to people in such a way to maximize their own profits by making it so you can't use the hardware without going through them
02:14
@AdityaSomani I worked for a company creating iphone/ipad apps. Now I have a Nexus 7 because I could not stand it anymore and I am very pleased so far (Not using Google Android, but cyanogenmod). Strange, I am also using bowties, it is very common for engineers.
I hate normal ties with passion >:->
@AJHenderson What, the golden bars are wonderfully designed and delicate.
Good night.
03:01
@AJHenderson Haha. It is safe to say that I absolutely detest apple too. I guess I have made a new friend! ;)
@AJHenderson They are not innovators per se. They are great marketing people selling ridiculously overpriced products.
@ThorstenS. I'm glad you like it too. I use a Custom ROM based on AOKP on my Galaxy S2. Poor thing is nearing its end of life. Almost 3 years old, have dunked it into water sooo many times, but it seems it's made of steel or something. I actually feel sad for it.

2 hours later…
Am I the only one here who doesn't hate Apple?
@Flimzy that's the same pack as I had, before Beijing security confiscated it :(
Their pbcopy/pbpaste feature on the command line is genius
typing on my macbook air :)
(my only apple device, ever...so far)
Gosh. Well I do own an iPad
BUT, it's because someone close to me gifted it to me :D
05:21
But the again I guess i'm from the generation where my epic dislike goes to microsoft
I just think apple products don't suit "me" too well.
Apple hardware = beautiful. I prefer android software.
I'll be fairly honest, download music, Android :D iOS :(
No i hate android
Downloading torrent Android :D iOS :(
05:22
Screwed my phone multiple times
Sending anything except pictures as attachments Android :D iOS :(
Android does have it's own issues
But to me, all those things are far more important
Jake Weary (born February 14, 1990) is an American actor, singer and musician. Most people know him as the obnoxious bully, Kevin in the Fred series. == Biography == === TV and TV Movie Career === After an initial guest role on his mother Kim Zimmer's show, Guiding Light in 2002, he was cast as Luke Snyder on the television soap opera As the World Turns. Weary's departure from As the World Turns was the cause of some controversy, as the timing coincided with a change in course for the character of Luke, who would be revealed to be gay. Initially, news reports suggested that Weary or Zim...
Using multiple wifi system apps android :( ios :)
worth clicking on for the very first sentence
@MarkMayo LOL
05:24
But on server level I am a big linux fan
@andra I don't understand what you're trying to say. Multiple wifi as in connecting to multiple wifi NWs at once?
My iPad connects to only one WiFi at a time... :/
No i use fon extensively with their app, same with skype wifi
Still not sure what you're trying to say :/
This way i can mostly use wifi over 3g when travel where the apps automagically hops from wifi router to wifi router
:O Android does that too!
05:28
I know, but only when you use one system
Oh wait, lemme guess. These all have different passwords
Yes, it will hop routers when they are all on one system
I think you mean like different wifi hotspots from the same company
This "fon" sounds super cool! :D
App is available but it seems to have some issues. But I won't hold this against android. I'm quite sure the functionality is not restricted.
It's like blaming apple for the shitty Google Hangouts app (Which. Like. Crashes. Once. A. Day.)
I blame apple for making Facetime an apple only service
Oh no, it is just to recognise some beauty in a very restrictive app policy
I don't like that "we're too cool" attitude for something as simple as iMessage or Facebook. RIM did this with Blackberry did this for a long time, see where it got them.
I see ios mainly as a consumer product
@andra ABSOLUTELY! I agree.
It's a great entertainment product
But anything a little more than Netflix or Youtube or listening to music. And it fails. :(
I occasionally download stuff to watch on my phone, because internet at home is very skippy. But I have almost no way to watch all that stuff on my iPad.
I end up streaming using a wifi hotspot from my phone using the VLC app for iOS.
And all that time I cannot access the internet because the wifi is connected to the phone on the iPad and the phone is hosting the hotspot. So I have 2 devices with zero internet connection
05:36
Hmm' there is a program that converts allmost all to ipod format
If only they had a micro sd card you know.
But I need a PC. I rarely use my laptop these days.
Do you use dropbox
Yeah. But the videos are like 700MB.
Remember the skippy internet connection. :/
Like a season for an old TV show or something you know.

Q: Can you enter the uk via eurostar on an eu passport with only one month of validity?

victoriaI'm like two hours away and just realised my passport will expire in September.

Sometimes there's like a bunch of videos. So I must stream them one by one. If I had an android tablet, I could just use the micro sd card.
@MarkMayo She can enter using her ID card as well...
05:43
if she has it :)
Of course. haha
But I don't think there would be an issue. Trying to find more info...

Q: Replacing a 32-bit loop count variable with 64-bit introduces crazy performance deviations

gexicideI was looking for the fastest way to popcount large arrays of data. I encountered a very weird effect: Changing the loop variable from unsigned to uint64_t made the performance drop by 50% on my PC. The Benchmark #include <iostream> #include <chrono> #include <x86intrin.h> int main(int argc, c...

What a question. I am mesmerized.
@Dirty-flow Yeah. Terrible. I feel super sorry for the mods. :'(
I got like 8 active flags now. :/ Sorry @mods :(
10:06
maybe they like it to delete spam posts and destroy users
and btw 6 spam-flags are enough for autodelete
I see. AWESOME. :D
the community has more power than you think ;)
10:22
@Dirty-flow This is true. :)
11:08
@dirty-flow sometimes it is really nice to have multiple email addresses ;)
It is tempting to make 6 additional stackexchange accounts on travel ;)

Q: Immigration (plus Visa) on Arrival in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia

jmacDenpasar Airport in Bali recently expanded the international terminal. Prior to the expansion, arrival in the evening would usually be accompanied by an hour-plus wait to get a visa voucher and get through immigration due to the large amount of flights arriving around the same time. Has the wait...

@jmac Have you been to Bali before?
@AdityaSomani Every year.
OHHHH YEAH! You live in JAPPPAN
@jmac My bad dude. It's a popular spot for the Japanese. ;)
@AdityaSomani More popular among Australians and Europeans, but yeah, there are some Japanese too.
@jmac My boss got married there. :D
It's a beautiful place. One of my favorite vacations ever. I'd like to go there again too!
But a super cramped airport.
They just made the airport bigger last year or this year, I forget which
So that may have improved things a bit.
14:37
Hopefully, it's a pretty big tourist spot.
I didn't go to Jakarta, I went to Bali and Surabaya
Shortest flight I ever took
Starts at 11:35am and reaches at 11:30am ;)
I am going to Bali as well.
Been going every year for...6 years now maybe?
Give or take.
Nice! Why every year?
Because it is a wonderful place to be?
Good food, cheap beer, great people, and plenty of time to read.
This is true. Do you go all by yourself or with someone else too?
I go with the better half.
14:48
Solid. I never asked, where are you from?
The US originally.
And your better half?
Not the US.
Haha. Japanese?
Were you married before you came to Japan or after?
(sorry, as much as my identity is now out, my better half's isn't, so I will endeavor to keep it that way out of respect, etc.)
14:50
(of course, my bad, feel free to not answer anything which you feel is too much, I would agree with you 100% :D)
So Bali, where do you plan to visit this time around?
There are many Hindu temples there, I'm sure you must have visited them.
I actually went there and spoke a little Hindi. Was super fun! :D
I usually sit with a beer and a book by a pool or in a cafe.
Nusa Dua? ;)
I don't do much but read, drink, sleep, and enjoy the atmosphere.
Nope, Ubud.
Are tickets to Bali super cheap or something?
:/
Nope, but I have an absurd amount of miles. Really, an absurd amount. I have flown enough in the past 10 years to go around the world 10 times, or one-way to the moon.
14:57
Holy smokes!
How does this even happen! I need this to happen for me :(
I had a lot of business trips with my last company.
And I fly a lot in my free time.
Wow, I left out a bunch of flights from that too...
That is really intense. You and your better half should do like an Asian trip once. :D
We have done many Asian trips. Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia.
I see. No love for India? :(
Hot places and me, we don't get along too well. Maybe Northern India. Maybe.
15:02
Ah right, I remember that. How in god's name do you tolerate Japan.
But with so many places in the world to visit, I have to admit that India isn't that high on my list.
I don't tolerate Japan. 24 hour a day air conditioning. God awful electricity bills.
True true
Don't you take public transport to office?
@AdityaSomani What office? I work for SE, I'm working at home.
I mean earlier...
Yes. And I hated every second of it.
15:14
lol
