hmm.. 2 empty seats in business class, and i'm third on the upgrade list
I have my first ever business class flight coming up in two months :)
Doc
Doc
actually, there's 2 free seats in first, and then 2 in business class
so they should upgrade 2 people C-F, and then 4 from economy to business - and i'm #3
but i've learnt not to bet on upgrades until you have a boarding pass in hand...
01:01
but that messes too many people around, you should volunteer to just jump from E to F ;)

on an 11 hour international flight? i think not unfortunately

A: Is there any smart tip to choose seats on aeroplane?

HaLaBiIf you are flying economy If you have a baby flying with you: Take the first row of the zone you are setting in. First rows are usually where the fittings for the baby basinets are available. Also, you will be close to toilets to change diapers and so. If you are travelling with kids: Take a si...

lol, @Halabi marked it as duplicate AND answered it :P

@Geeo are you ready for the football match tonight?
@Dirty-flow daaaaamn I forgot you are from bulgary
sabai-dee
I'm not sure I'm gonna watch it tho, I'm suppose to go out :-\
I will watch it and then go out
off-topic guys. take it to football.SE d-:
07:47
Ok, mr foreign language :)
monolingual so-called travellers d-:
@hippietrail in what languages are you fluent?
english
some people accuse me of being fluent in spanish. but i deny all such allegations!

my latest food travel crossover question. i really wish we had some support to cross promote these:
0
Q: Where does the Asian dish "sang choi bow" come from?

hippietrailI'm currently travelling in Laos where my favourite local dish is called "larb" or "laap" (ລາບ in Lao, ลาบ in Thai). When I described it to my Australian friend he said it sounded like a dish that was one of his favourites called "San Choi Bow" and described it as "either a southern Chinese or V...

10:24
@hippietrail congratulation with international hitchhikers day

1 hour later…
11:29
thanks @Andra, i had no idea (-:
12:04
@hippietrail would be an ideal to hitchhike today, at least over here where radio station are monitoring with various hitchhikers how they manage getting from A to B. With all that radio exposure getting a ride seems more easier then normal
really? cool! where is "over here"?
if anyone wants to show some support for my sucky bank trying hard not to help a customer travelling, check out my little complaint on Facebook: facebook.com/ajax/sharer/…
of if that doesn't work then here: facebook.com/hippietrail
bah that didn't work at all i think. the messages went on my page instead of the ANZ page - but maybe they still show up on the ANZ page?
the first link doesn't work and the second one only links to your profile
Over here being Belgium and the Netherlands
on my profile can you see my message about the bank?
nope, only photos
12:08
No nothing on your profile page about banks
hmm i'm not sure
yep, that works
I can see 2 posts by you
can you like them? (only if you want to)
you are a kind kind netizen (-:
you should see a different version of my profile page now (-:
12:14
yes... your post is visible only for your friends
make it public
aha i'd only used that for photos before
anyone feeling generous may also wish to vote for my recent post on cooking.SE (-:
12:31
are there companies that act as middle men between travellers and people who want to ship stuff?
the traveller gets some money to carry the stuff and the middle man get a bit too?
the obvious problem would be sending illegal stuff
12:47
Or untrustwordy travelers not delivering the stuff
or both
hmm yeah
there used to be couriering as a cheap mode of travel but i think it's disappeared in recent times
I don't know much about it but usually people at the security gates ask if you are bringing stuff "for others" or that "others gave you"
I remember pretty clearly an interview when I was in Tel Aviv
and one from Amsterdam to Atlanta
yes but if you say no is there a following set of questions or are you arrested at that point?
if something goes wrong they have the right to put a lot of shit on you since you lied at the gates
like when you are asked if you were involved in WWII Nazi atrocities when entering the states
12:56
i think i have some good new questions to ask then when i get back to the guesthouse (-:
:)
1. is courier-travel still a thing? 2. what happens when you answer "no" to "did you pack this yourself?"
oh I even got wrong what you meant early
in that case I dont know what may happen, but I suspect they will inspect the thing very carefully
I would upvote such a question tho
There used to be a website where rental agencies posted cars that needed to be returned to another country
you could then volunteer to drive that car back
I lost the bookmark though :(
It was a quite convenient way of traveling
wow i thought i just ate at a fancy place and it was $4.62 (-:
car relocation is a great way to travel in usa and australia. i don't know about international
see you guys in 20 minutes...

A: Working out the best European country to post a parcel from to Australasia?

AndraPersonally, I would try to ignore the normal postal officse. They are often quite expensive when it comes to posting a parcel. Often you don't have choice and then it actually doesn't matter in which country you post your parcel. Most public postal organization more or less use the same logistica...

How is this NOT travel related?

@Dirty-flow lots of comments on Stack Exchange are just humorous ones. I don't see why you're targeting me in particular.
<insert Watergate hotel joke here> — Paul Richter Apr 4 '12 at 2:48
@andrewgrimm I flagged that comment
so don't pick on @Dirty-flow
on him alone
I guess comments gets deleted if somebody flags it
feel free to flag as well
I'll try flagging some of @Halabi's comments if these comments are seen as deserving deletion.
Where are all the geishas and weird stuff you always ask about??? you should be with them in your birthday... — HaLaBi Jun 5 at 15:49
Indeed that comment belongs here and not in the comments
Yes man it is possible, you can drink in the open, I prefer in the markets. No one will talk to you. You can also do anything you used to do in Japan.. it is cool. Please enjoy. — HaLaBi Jul 19 at 15:28
but what is it you keep picking on him?
Is he dating your ex?
13:38
here it starts the COMMENT WAR

I saw a notification...
@Andra These were comments by him on my questions.
Hi @Halabi I am so happy you are back
I found out it is u @AndrewGrimm, so I kinda willing to break my oath to come here.. just to tell you one thing :)
don't respond to intended picking

Is it a 4 letter acronym?
Oh nooooo
thanks @Andra... bye guys
13:50
goodness
@AndrewGrimm I flagged your comment and my flag was declined
I don't say it's the only one, or the worst one
@Geeo which one do you preffer: comment war or star war
@Dirty-flow is there a death star involved?
where?
well not much fun here at the moment ...
how about a pissing match to see who can get the most attention for my comments on ANZ bank's facebook page?
@Dirty-flow "star war" => "Star Wars" => "death star".
14:01
@Dirty-flow idk, we italians would lose both anyway
A Death Star is a fictional moon-sized space station and superweapon appearing in the Star Wars movies and expanded universe created by George Lucas. It is capable of destroying an entire planet with its powerful superlaser. Origin and design Although particular details, such as the superlaser's location, shifted between different concept models during production of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the notion of the Death Star being a large, spherical space station was consistent in all of them. The Death Star was created by the dean of special effects, John Stears. The buzzing sound...
the star war I was talking about was between me and @Geeo starring some messages here
and I lost that too, eventually
and the italians gonna lose tonight too, I hope
Image fail for "Death Star". Unless it's supposed to be "Death Stare"! :)
14:04
@Dirty-flow always remember: "Italians lose wars as if they were football matches, and football matches as if they were wars"

Bullet Train for Australia is an Australian political party, registered in 2013. It is a single-issue party campaigning for a fast implementation of high-speed rail. It advocates that the first stage of the bullet train should run from Melbourne to Newcastle via Canberra and Sydney, and be built within 5 years. The party grew out of the Bullet Train for the ACT party lead by Tim Bohm, which at the 2012 ACT elections gained around 9,000 votes, representing 4% of first preference votes. The party is having 18 candidates in the 2013 federal election, in ACT, NSW and Victoria. References Ex...
"is having" - what kind of euroenglish is this being? d-:
14:31
@hippietrail Euroenglish more like Eu-wrong-lish
@hippietrail Engrish?
15:16
@Andra thank you mate. sorry for leaving too quick before..
I guess I will be back just to bother grimms..
@AndrewGrimm whats your problem? do you have a thing for me and shy to say it?
@hippietrail thai driver license doesn't always mean thai citizen ;)
15:37
@LessPop_MoreFizz Eu-wrong-lish is usually spoken by multilingual people, whereas English is more for the differently abled monolinuguals
@Andra how r u
come on guys, drop it, it's becoming annoying. I love you both, isn't this enough?
3
I don't think you guys made enough flags.
4
@Geeo your love is what keep us going..
is what keeps the site going..
and the stars, and the universe!
15:43
yes yes for sure..
jeez, easy with the flags @AndrewGrimm and @HaLaBi
begun, the flag wars have
@Dirty-flow well true technically but the tag is to help the people most likely to benefit. not to show how good we are at nitpicky semantics d-:
@HaLaBi and @AndrewGrimm: you two are like kids in the kindergarden, constantly picking on one another, "he said, she said" fashion. It's getting tiresome to all. Resist the urge to reply to one another, even when confronted, and you'd all be more happy about it.
where is the flag abuse flag?
15:48
@hippietrail meta flags are to be implemented in 6 to 8 weeks
wee (-: can't wait to abuse them!
and of course there will be a need for meta-meta flags
If you guys are done flagging I'm going to go back to my normal playground.
@mindcorrosive what do you think should be done when someone links to a museum about nazi persecution of homosexuals? Nothing?
halabi wants me to tell somebody here about him not tagging anything or something
we should bring in new laws against "deep linking"?
15:53
@AndrewGrimm the comment has been deleted by the user themselves. I agree it could be construed to be in a bad taste, but it's gone -- what more do you think should be done?
You can link to whatever you want (except porn), but if you go around persecuting homosexuals like a nazi yourself, that's bad.
...
So don't do that.
we could invoke godwin's law?
lol
15:57
we could tell everybody involved to heed rule 1?
we could focus more on our amazing travel photos and less on mucking about in the SE system like little kids?
7
@hippietrail got some showsies?
i'm doing my touch ups before uploading to facebook. i would upload a sample here but upload hangs unless i make the files smaller and that would be a distraction on my toy computer
miss this :-(
on a related note, I discovered in shock that one of the pictures I took casually yesterday in the park contains a pair of ponies in the background, engaged in, well, you know, re^H^Hprocreational activities. And no, I'm not going to post it.
@HaLaBi any insiders view on this b747 being parked between the lamps in Madrid?
@Geeo isn't Italy one of the mayor providers of Sushi rice?
@Andra mayors make Sushi rice?
well that's from last night's batch and still took some mucking about to upload d-:
@mindcorrosive typo. Should be major
@hippietrail this last one looks terribly like Levantine tabboulleh
Okay, please stop with the flagging.
16:11
@mindcorrosive: it's known as laap if it's the lao version or larb if it's the thai versian. it's actually a shredded meat salad!
which reminds me to plug my cooking crossover question again! (-:

@hippietrail oh my, just saw the ingredients on the wiki page, this thing is for serious carnivores! A dish after my own taste
hmm why didn't that work?
you got some extra bits in the end
there ya go
dammit i forgot to take a photo of the beef jerky today!
arr there she blows
all my facebook photos should be public so you're all welcome to check them out if you wish
do you have recipes and stuff?
16:16
me? nah. plenty of those on the ole interwebs
boy, you sure have some photos
@hippietrail tempted to flag as offensive. :)
@AndrewGrimm ಠ_ಠ
god dammit kirk i'm a doctor, not a chinese chef!
here's one of my favourites from the latest batch:
i guess everybody here fainted out of food lust
16:46
I am back... after a 30 minutes ban...
so it is always funny to me, I am the one who gets banned and not the other one..
@MichaelDunfield any explainations?
whats the criteria used to ban?
If a chat flag gets approved, you get an automatic suspension.
automatically?
If it gets approved, yes.
people got nothing to do with it? like a checkbox with 'also ban user' ??
@HaLaBi Nope, not that I know of anyway.
16:49
@MichaelDunfield can we try it one more time please?
@HaLaBi Try... what?
I will write something, u flag it.. and lets see.. ok?
No, that's an abuse of the flagging system.
Everyone in the network over 10k will see it.
I've been suspended for chat flags dozens of times though.
It's automatic, when the flag gets approved.
ok...
you are 21, it is cool to be flagged for you...
@HaLaBi That is not how the flagging system works. Any user can flag a chat message. That chat message is then visible to everyone with >10k rep (which is quite a few people). If they validate the flag (believe that there was an abuse of chat rules), then the user is banned from chat for 30 minutes.
16:52
@HaLaBi Not really. In fact I just changed my username and avatar after like 3 years to try and repair my image.
@AndrewGrimm let's make peace.. no comments to each other, if you hate arabs that's not my problem. just mind your own business and I will as well.. deal?
@mindcorrosive support my idea above.. no more wars.. I never flagged people or anything and I am the one who always gets banned...
@MichaelDunfield since you are a gamer.. do you know a way to get the old "total annihilation" game? or is there a new version of it hiding under another name?
@HaLaBi I don't even know what that is, sadly.
ok :/

 The Bridge

oh
@mindcorrosive spying on you neighbours?
@Geeo not my problem he has a big TV. in Sweden, curtains are not very common, you can see what's going on in most of the houses
apartments too
lol
'sides, Zlatan has a pretty distinctive haircut; that is, none at all :)
19:20
what about berbatov?
too old?
he refused to play for the national team some years back
long story
@Dirty-flow probably knows the details better
he has some problems with the boss of the bulgaria federation
without him we're still playing good, I would say even better
gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

Diego SilesAny foreing driver license is valid in Costa Rica for 3 months from the arrival date. lol @pirlo
what was that? :D
20:37
@Dirty-flow gg
congrats
@Geeo look at the away table in our group
armenia lost at home vs malta, but won away vs danemark and czech republic
yeah and that's somewhat bad news for bulgary
because out of 9 groups only 8 second placed teams will make it to the world cup
the one with the most points
so it's important that you don't lose any more points from now on
yes, you're right
we have a young team and we play good I think
so even if we do not qualify now, we will do it next time
yeah we have been quite lucky
Nedelev played a great match.. hi will join Mainz 05 in January

Here's some more flags
The flag of Australia is a defaced Blue Ensign: a blue field with the Union Jack in the canton (upper hoist quarter), and a large white seven-pointed star known as the Commonwealth Star in the lower hoist quarter. The fly contains a representation of the Southern Cross constellation, made up of five white stars – one small five-pointed star and four, larger, seven-pointed stars. The flag's original design (with a six-pointed Commonwealth Star) was chosen in 1901 from entries in a worldwide competition held following Federation, and was first flown in Melbourne on 3 September 1901; thi...
