What do you think about making a tag so that I can ignore long lists?

@Spencer That rather seems like a great example of a meta-tag.
I'm not sure I know what you're referring to, but I understand the feeling; I wouldn't mind being able to ignore the "name all the red-shirts in this collage" style questions, but I think that would require being able to ignore specific posts.

Q: I read this novella before 1969 -- kid is befriended by alien kid who has a spaceship?

releseabeThis was definitely aimed at YA or even earlier because the age of the main human character I think is pre-teenager, maybe as young as 9 or 10. Anyway, the alien has a spaceship which can accommodate a human -- as I recall: Food dispensers which produce things that taste strange but iirc the hum...

Q: Looking for a Sci-Fi Novel About Psychic Child

boywithviolinI read this book around ten years ago, but I think it’s from the 70s-80s. It’s a about a woman who becomes pregnant with another child and before he’s even born, he can telepathically communicate with her, and he is already very intelligent. I believe he has an older brother, maybe around 10-12 i...

Q: NoSomeone Help!

IdkThere's this show I think it's about an old man and his RV. There's this talking pizza guy and a lot of different character's but he's the only one I remember. I remember there was this one episode where a cat went missing and then they found it but it was actually a robot so they had to kill it....

Q: Looking for the title of a novel about a divine/heavenly being turned into a dog

Mandock D.I read the book about 19yrs ago (2003/2004). I think it was published by Orion books as I seem to remember a dog-looking-at-stars logo. In it, a being is maybe banished from the heavens...either was turned into a dog on earth, or just ended up in an already existing dog. Somewhere, it had the phr...

A: Mind transfer into the body of ape-like aliens

CassfrankSOLVED! After searching for what feels like millennia for this book, I finally stumbled across the cover today. This novel is John Robert Russell's Cabu (1974). Here is the blurb: "George Piget was only human. A frail history professor with just a few months to live, he dreamed of having the powe...

Q: Looking for an anthology which includes story about despotic galactic emperor who is sent on a quest to his death with his faithful robot war steed

Paul the GoosemanThe story starts with the very long lived emperor (10,000 years) ordering the destruction of a planet on a whim. His court realises he has gone too far and is sent on a quest, but it is a ruse to send him to his death. He meets a mysterious female character who asks him a question, and if he gets...

Q: Would the blood wards prevent Dobby harming Harry?

J. MiniI'm unsure if the mechanics of the blood wards are ever explained, but the idea that Dobby was able to visit Harry disturbs me greatly. Is there anything in any official material that establishes that Harry would've been safe from attack via House Elf? I find it rather hilarious to think that all...

Q: Fantasy novel about a house that controls the world

StatskeyRead this maybe in 2015-2018. The general plot is that the main character wants to reach this house/place that controls everything. I recall the setting being similar to an overpopulated pre-industrial era city. I may be wrong about this though. Along the way, he has to travel to all sorts of dif...

Sorry about the spat of old edits. I was fixing some things on the front page, and got distracted by links to the side, and didn't realize how many I'd edited until I noticed my name on the first half dozen entries.

Q: Manhua where the main character realizes that animals can be slaughtered to gain levels

BLACKVEHETAI am looking for a manhua where the main character is in a modern world where people have superpowers to fight monsters in dungeons. The main character gets a leveling up system where, in order to level up, he has to kill 1,000 ants to become level one. In the second chapter he realises that you ...

Q: Trying to track down SF movie where bad guy has body parts of vanquished enemies transplanted onto himself

Head GeekI'm trying to track down a science-fiction movie that I only remember fragments of. The good guys consist of humans and various aliens, and the alien bad-guy leader has body parts of vanquished enemies transplanted onto himself as living trophies. At one point, a set of five telepathic aliens who...

Q: movie about vampire and a hunter

Bob LinI recall seeing a movie on VHS from Blockbuster many years ago. It was about a vampire and a hunter, and there was also a young girl involved (perhaps because she fell in love with the vampire). In addition, the movie depicted a really "dark scenes", I remembered the movie was very dark ambient. ...

Really high XP people: Do you visit your posts to clear all of the new XP notifications, or have you turned them off somehow?
I am not in danger of needing this any time soon.
Plus, of course, I still need the validation.

@Spencer I don't know what you mean? I guess I'm not "really high" but maybe I'm high enough to have some experience with what you're talking about?
Are you talking about the "you have gained 20 points" icon that shows on the "achievements" button? Just clicking on the button to pop up the menu and dismissing it is enough.
That seems too simple though, so I'm thinking I don't understand what you're talking about.

Q: Identification of play about fictionalizing an in-universe murder

J.G.During the 2010s I saw a 2-act play in the UK, with a three-character plot along these lines: Two people in a house try to kill a third, and think they've succeeded. They wrap him up in a rug and bury him in the garden, which they access via a glass door. A few minutes later, the victim emerges ...

Hmm... I know the recent changes with the messages means you need to click on them to dismiss them individually, including multiple comments on the same post (although, fortunately, now they show all of them at once rather than requiring you to click on the message, and then re-open the message button to click on the next one, and so on). Points, though, go away as soon as I open it.

Q: Book where an AI is grown by submitting banks of computers to an annoying signal

Q: Doctor-Who-esque novel involving an evil slime-mold-like creature

AmanadielThis is a book I would have read some time in the 90s in the UK. I'm fairly confident it's not a Doctor Who book, but it had a very Doctor Who feel, at least in the parts that stick in my memory. It involved one or more viewpoint/reader surrogate characters traveling in the company of an experien...
