Q: time manipulation provides guaranteed immortality?

riggedSince time manipulation is not currently possible (thus not real world science), it is only science fiction: if time manipulation is possible (traveling into the past) then wouldn't immortality be guaranteed? based on our current understanding of our universe, time is infinite, so at some point s...

Q: Why do phasers skip from Type X to Type XII?

Sovereign InquiryAfter Type X phasers were equipped on the Galaxy class and other ships of the era, the next most powerful phasers were Type XII phasers, usually equipped on starbases or heavily fortified stations. Yarg. So we just threw away the stuff I've been working on for the past 3 weeks.
That's great way to end the week.
So enthusiastic about my job today.
I mean, if I work at 30% speed for the rest of the day I'll still be more productive than I've been for the past month.

@DavidW I read that as 3 years at first and felt your pain. So still super annoying but at least not 3 years bad haha

5:00 PM
Oh, I've done the 3 years thing too. That one still hurts.
From 2010-2015 we developed a custom framework that was way beyond what Angular could do, especially the way it had all kinds of really good data visualization pieces built in. And it could be (and was) coded by normal (competent) web developers. Who were replacing a huge legacy application at a rate of a page a day... But it didn't fit with some PE's vision of how to extract maximum value from the company so it was unceremoniously killed.
So yeah, sure, this is only 1.5% as bad. But it just happened, and I haven't yet got to the acceptance part.

The disability being that he can't talk or walk and has to use a wheelchair. The female lead reincarnated (I forget if it was a book or a game), but I'm prett...

Q: Book involving the discovery and enslavement of a new species of humanoids living underground

MattI read this book when I was a child in late '70s/'80s. My memory of the story is a bit hazy but this is what I remember. Set on contemporary Earth, an underground humanoid species was discovered when digging a mine / tunnel. This species which were docile were subjugated, enslaved and forced to d...
