Newest self-replicating Questions is funny
Can I add media tags after the question gets an accepted answer, based on that?

Q: Legal source of TeX Avery cartoons

user56Is there a complete, unedited collection of at least Tex Avery's MGM period cartoons for sale from a reputable source? (Only widely readable formats such as DVD and streaming please, no second-hand VHS or Laserdiscs.) The most complete I could find is a French (region 2) DVD set. But it's censor...

Is this saying that Tex Avery is off-topic?
We should kill the tag
The only question on it is off-topic
It's weird when I lose rep from edits after a question is deleted
I don't get why some of them are, anyways
@Jenayah can you see questions that were vote-deleted?
What about ? It's on-topic but seems unnecessary. It's also potentially misnamed--while I can find the magazine referred to as Worlds of If on a few pages, Wikipedia only calls it If

Q: Acceleration of Cosmotron Express in Tom Swift Jr Vol 32

DuncanIn 'Tom Swift and his Cosmotron Express' (1970) by Victor Appleton II, Tom invents his fastest spaceship that can go to the moon in 3 hours and tour all the planets in the solar system in 2.5-3 days. It claims to be able to do this by being able to accelerate continuously. Has anyone done the mat...

Q: Does Plato's "Ring of Gyges" have a corrupting influence on its wearer?

ValorumIn Plato's Republic, a simple shepherd finds a magical ring, places it on his finger, turns invisible and then immediately sets about a campaign of murder, rape and treason. This seems like behaviour that would be out of character for anyone who isn't a Lannister. Does the Ring have a specific c...

ab2As a sometime visitor to this site, I am surprised that the feature that allowed me to select a tag for the questions I want to view has disappeared, or has sunk below the level of instant visibility. I am sure it is there, somewhere, probably under the binoculars, but it was instantly obvious b...

Q: Short story where Earth was entirely paved over

DavidWI would have read this in a mixed-author anthology sometime between 1977 and 1982. Or, just possibly, a school book. It was a short-short, basically a single scene where a crowd of dignitaries plus a band are on hand for the ceremonial completion of paving the entire planet. My recollection is...

@Stormblessed no, tags should be based on the question alone (and the comments)
@Stormblessed seems alright, it's in universe
@Stormblessed you can edit the relevant information in the question and flag the comments as no longer needed (or rather, if there are too many NLN comments, mod-flag the question)
@Stormblessed nah, suggested order questions are fine. They still need a bit of expertise to be answered :)
Although this one is indeed a bit unclear

Q: 1990s-2000s horror alien movie with slugs infecting people through the mouth

Nikita NeganovI've seen this horror movie in early to mid-2000s, but the quality wasn't really good, so I suppose the movie could've been older. The main theme is some kind of alien invasion, where aliens are little slugs which infect people through the mouth. The one thing I remember really good: the scen...

Q: TV show with 4 kids as the 4 elements who fought baddies in another universe

Charleigh ParsonsI’m from the UK and I watched a TV show from around 2011-13 which featured 4 kids as the 4 elements. The girl represented air, the darker skinned boy represented earth, and the other two boys represented fire and water. They had to go out and fight baddies in another universe (I think) and they ...

@Stormblessed well it's closed now
@Stormblessed I downvoted the question as it's both off-topic and a shopping thing. As it's closed and score 0, it will get auto-deleted during the week
@Marvin that surprises me for two reasons... First because that's twice in a week Gormiti has been asked for, while it never was asked for before that in the history of SFF... And then because the Tuesday answer got to HNQ so I'd have expected someone to remember the previous question when reading the new one
I mean yeah site is slow on weekends but still it has been upfor three hours already

Q: Science fiction book where humans now live on a space ark and have lost the coordinates to Earth

samal rondI remember reading this one book in 2014. The title had the protagonist's name in it. The story is set in the future where humans are now living on a space ark and have left planet Earth behind. Well technically, they lost the coordinates to Earth so they can't go back anymore. I can't really re...

Q: Short Story Set In Future Where Jingles Become Pop Music?

DailyFlickNYThink it might be Ray Bradbury? Music has been reduced to clips from jingles/commercials? There's a machine that writes the songs, but protagonist goes to work in small club/bar & becomes very successful?

@Stormblessed Is this a good answer?
@Marvin should that have a ?
Ducking mobile

@Stormblessed I'd guess so, but having not read the books, I wouldn't know how/if it coulf be improved.
@Stormblessed yeah
if OP thinks their story-ID might have been written by author XYZ it's better to leave the tag
this way, it will come to the attention of people who watch the Ray Bradbury tag, so supposedly, people who are interested in, or experts in, who could provide an answer

@Jenayah Oh, that makes sense
I loved The Illustrated Man
I hated Fahrenheit 451, though

It's much more useful than all these pointless on story-ID. On I wouldn't mind but on story-ID it's so meh. No one's here is an expert on magic, isn't it?
but these are toofar gone

11:35 PM
I'm gonna have three questions on the tag soon and I haven't finished the book yet...

I'm a bit surprised one would ask questions about somthing they're currently reading/watching. Spoilers aside, and unless iit's clearly said the matter will be dropped after chapter X, this feels like asking who's the murderer when the detective just found the bloodstained handkerchief.
Like, stuff will probably get revealed later on in the same book/season etc

@Jenayah I guess

@Jenayah wat

@Mithrandir yeah, it makes sense

Unless I missed another Meta discussion, guesses about what the answer might be should not get the tag. We don't tag answered ID questions with the answer's tag, so this shouldn't have the author tag unless they're 100% sure.

11:42 PM
@Mithrandir it's not retroactively tagging in this case, as OP put it themselves.
9 mins ago, by Jenayah
this way, it will come to the attention of people who watch the Ray Bradbury tag, so supposedly, people who are interested in, or experts in, who could provide an answer
^ that's the good it makes, but I don't see the harm it would do

@Jenayah Agreed and starred
And unstarred
Not actually star-level of interesting, but true

A: Is there a consensus on tagging solved story ID's with the name of the author/story?

Rand al'ThorWe shouldn't. For the same reason as we shouldn't edit the answer into any question once it's solved. For story-ID questions, the story title is part of the answer, not the question. Editing it into the question, even in the form of a tag, would make people do a quick double-take and think "why ...

@Mithrandir But it's different to have what the author guesses

this one tackles retroactive tagging, though... (implicitely)

@Randal'Thor Thoughts?

11:48 PM
Whatever, I can't get into this at the moment. Now I sleep.
(if in doubt, write a meta? ;))

@Mithrandir when you get back, you can get to answering my "what harm does it do"? :P

@Mithrandir and @Jenayah Writing a Meta right now
