Q: Could I write a new book on Frankenstein since it's public domain?

Gothamite24I was largely just wondering about this as there are a number of very fun, interesting things that could be done with the character.

R Roesler~ 1989 there I read a short story .. pretty sure it was in Analog .. about a human who chats up an alien at some extraterrestrial bar. The alien tells him that his species tried to eradicate humans with a virus .. which turned out to be the common cold. Anybody know the name/author of the story?

Q: Can anyone find this book..or an idea of it?

Jordan RickettsI remember reading this book when I was young, when I first started borrowing books from the library. I remember the characters were...siblings, I think sisters. It’s fantasy, i think they were like on adventures, looking for something. I’m much older now but I really wish to read the books again...

Q: Where could I find "Spartakus and the Sun beneath the Sea" in Czech?

Boleslav BílýSo there is this originally French TV show called Spartakus and the Sun beneath the Sea (or "Les Mondes Engloutis" in the original French version). I've watched this show in my native language (Czech) on Minimax around 2010-2011. Years later, I decided to re-watch it, but unfortunately, I can't ...

FuzzyBootsSomewhere in the 1990s, I think, I read a short comic in a gaming magazine involving a man entering a fighting tournament. Eh. The funny thing is that truth be told, only 10 or so magnets come from friends. The rest is me eating escalopes xD
Well, me and roommates but still

12:02 PM
I had to google what that was.... too large a word for my small brain

I have two rules for the flatsharing. 1/ Warn me if there are peanuts in the flat. 2/ If you're buying escalopes, buy the brand with the magnet.

haha. so its a hotpocket
a fancy hotpocket

I had to Google that
To each their turn :D
A cordon bleu or schnitzel cordon bleu is a dish of meat wrapped around cheese (or with cheese filling), then breaded and pan-fried or deep-fried. Veal or pork cordon bleu is made of veal or pork pounded thin and wrapped around a slice of ham and a slice of cheese, breaded, and then pan fried or baked. For chicken cordon bleu chicken breast is used instead of veal. Ham cordon bleu is ham stuffed with mushrooms and cheese. == Name == The French term cordon bleu is translated as "blue ribbon". According to Larousse Gastronomique cordon bleu "was originally a wide blue ribbon worn by members of the...

@TheLethalCarrot I carry two adrenaline syringes on me all the time to rekindle the heart if I eat peanuts

12:12 PM
@Jenayah Now we know your weakness.

Yep.

Woah, impressive.

@Jenayah hotpockets are usually eaten by poor college kids. you microwave them and then the outside is cold ut the middle will give you third degree burns

SQB

12:15 PM
@SQB what kind of lunatic would cook a cordon bleu with peanuts?

top talent there

SQB
@Jenayah Hence rule 3/
@Jenayah like an epi pen? Or actual syringes (which sounds way more hardcore)?

@SQB Anapen, yes.
Same as Epipen, except those don't get called back because the manufacturer realised a good bunch of pens didn't actually deploy.

SQB
@SQB cc @Catija

@Jenayah So they tell you beforehand which part is in it? That makes it a lot easier, no?
I didn't know Cordon Bleu was actually eaten in France, though.

12:32 PM
@NapoleonWilson isn't it a French dish?
@NapoleonWilson no, they don't, they just tell you there's a magnet
Sarthe was chosen as the poster magnet
Wouldn't have taken me four years to reach this far ahah

@Jenayah Well, yeah, it sounds like it. But there's French and "French", same as a German döner is very unlikely to be found anywhere in Turkey.

So close. I'm missing like, 20 magnets. (Out of roughly a hundred)
@NapoleonWilson oh right, just like French fries which are actually Belgian :p

Becuase the was a specific one for 72 Sarthe on it. But I guess that's just an example then.

But yeah, it's quite common
Yeah just an example

@Jenayah Have you or flatmates bought the maet product for all of those? Or have you traded some with other people or bought singles on ebay?

Q: How did Ron get five hundred Chocolate Frog cards?

QuestionAuthorityIn Harry's first year on the train to Hogwarts, Ron doesn't have the money to buy something when the woman with the cart comes. Ron’s ears went pink again and he muttered that he’d brought sandwiches. Harry bought, among other things, some Chocolate Frogs. What are these?” Harry asked ...

12:45 PM
@b_jonas never traded on eBay. All of the magnets here come from a bought dish, except for ~10 which were given to me by friends

Have you considered cheating yet, like by making replica magnets in one of those stores that let you print custom magnets?

I started the collection four years ago, was living alone in a student flat back then. Then one year was low on magnets as I was in the school residency (so I wasn't cooking my meals), then two years of flatsharing at roughly one of those bought per week

Obviously you'd replace them with authentic pieces when you acquire them.

@b_jonas no, just like I don't consider trading on eBay. There's no challenge anymore, no thrill upon opening the package.

I do sometimes eat Cordon Bleu, but only pre-made. The frozen meat products that I buy don't come with magnets.
The closest that I bought for frying at home was breaded poultry pieces filled with cheese but not with ham, I think.
I usually buy non-filled ones.

12:55 PM
@SQB WOAH! Is that crocheted?

SQB
Apparently yes.
See the linked tweet above it.

That's so cool!

@b_jonas well, those are made with turkey ham. It's tasty.

Nerd-adoration in all honours, but maybe wait a few years more with showing that cool film to your 6 year old? ;-)

many parents these days let their kids watch thing they have no business seeing
take myself for example a let my 7 and 5 year old watch the whole Jurassic Park/World collection.... they made it up to when the IndoRaptor breaks loose.

1:09 PM
Oh, I started with Jurassic Park at 7, too, because I was all into dinosaurs...surprisingly. ;-)
But I'd consider that quite tame, especially compared to Alien.

I remember JP and Jaws giving me nightmares at that age maybe I was just sawft.

@Jenayah cough conflict of interest cough cough ;P

In fact, I actually secretly watched Alien 2 in elementary school and was scared of it for years.

SQB
My 10-year-old (where do the hyphens go in that?) has seen all Jurassic Park films repeatedly. I don't think he started as early as 7, but he may have been 8.
With repeatedly, I mean that he owns the box-set.

@TheLethalCarrot well my answer on the dupe-target has quotes from the book
And both questions are okay
