Migrated large discussion. Let's respect our candidates by leaving this room for actual election coverage please.

Good luck to all our primary candidates!

@doppelgreener Please revisit your meta that you have not yet edited. Please also review the comments between myself and Oblivious Sage. Not sure if it is helpful to you, but for the moment, until you edit and improve your call out on the mods based on your various engagement, maybe it is helpful. Or not. Hope it's the former.

@KorvinStarmast I've been doing so. I've had back-to-back things to keep me very busy. I might get some time around noon today or later tonight to write it, since those are my not-busy times I finally get.

@doppelgreener Looking forward to it. I realize that the annoying thing called real life occasionally gets in the way. :-)

@KorvinStarmast Punchspace has been doing metaphysical punching to my RPG.SE schedule.

arrgh. I am off to work, best wishes. :)

For those who haven't seen, there are now four moderator slots, meaning two will be elected this time 'round.

@nitsua60 Hmm, but won't that break the budget for diamond Mod salaries? (Hmmm, checks math 4 x 0 still = 0). OK, budget office gave us the all clear.

@KorvinStarmast SO donate $100 per year on behalf of each mod; this was over $50000 last year.
But perhaps the real cost is Community Team support for moderators, since community managers do have to be paid.

@Gerry Thanks for your serious answer to my jest. Glad to know.

Nomination scores are off again @doppelgreener @nitsua60 @MadMAxJr

@diego I used all my votes a long time ago =(

@nitsua60 Yeah, I've also already voted on the ones that are off. If I were to edit one of them undoing my vote would fix it, but I don't know if that would be considered kosher

It's a little weird, but not any terrible malfeasance in my book. On the other hand, with only a few hours left in the primaries I'm not feeling a huge urge to ensure it's all-square, either.

Sounds reasonable. If other people can fix it great, if not you're right it isn't a huge deal.

9:18 PM
@nitsua60 I'll see what I can do.
All have 5, and I can't fix Marshall's since I already voted for his and he has 4.

@KorvinStarmast same here. they went out of wonk again, and are now back to 5 with the exception of Marshall.

Why am I being called out for nomination scores?

Not sure, someone was trying to keep them all level since an after thought was that questionnaire answers ought to be vote neutral so as to leave voting to the voting tools. Don't recall where I saw that ... in chat somewhere?

I generally don't vote on the questionare scores.

@MadMAxJr Was digging around the meta back pages and saw your activity in the early days. I'd like to say "thank you!" for being in that original cadre who got this site off the ground.
Me either, but apparently people started doing so ... so an attempt was made to try and keep all scores level ... shrugs

I've been here off and on since the beta.
I still think 90% of the exploding arguments about running this place that occur like clockwork are dumb, so I don't get involved beyond the review queues.
I play Pathfinder and that makes some people very upset. I ask questions that I am usually interested in a RAW answer, this also makes a few people mad.

@MadMAxJr Yeah. I can see why you do that. I notice from your profile 5 yrs in a FLGS.

2002-2007

I am not sure how you read "upset" from asking RAW or Pathfinder, but maybe I missed a few flame wars ...
There's a question on "ages of RPGs" and I am curious if you are interested in taking a crack at answering it. Given that you were on the retail side for a non trivial time ...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. RPGA Gamers on fire off the shoulder of Wizards of the Coast. I watched credit cards glitter in the dark near the 3.0 preorders. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
ahem
Right anyway.

9:37 PM
Muahahah, Blade RUnner for the win!
Pathfinder seems to be a very popular here
If the number of questions is any indicator, and some of the impressive and detailed answers.

It is. People still bash the site for being d20/D&D biased. News flash. IT HAS THE MARKET SHARE.

Yeah, not sure what the trick is to get more traffic in other games, but maybe it is a problem of small user population

The age of RPG question already has decent answers. There is no current standard naming convention.

Oh, yeah, and maybe it's a bit early ... but I think it's a neat effort to try to capture the transition points, such as they are. There is of course overlap ...

I mean there's that age of heresy across the late 70s through the 80s where ITS THE DEVILS GAME.

9:40 PM
There was a space game back in the late 70's that was not traveler, all in one book, that we played a few times and I can't recall its name. All I do recall is that I had a weapon called an Ion Chatter that was sorta like a sub machine gun.
Heh, during that 'devils game' period I played a lot with aguy who was divinity student at Yale, Episcopalean priest candidate.

Mazes and Monsters is a 1982 American made-for-television fantasy drama film directed by Steven Hilliard Stern about a group of college students and their interest in a fictitious role-playing game (RPG) of the same name. The movie starred a 26-year-old Tom Hanks in his first major leading film role. == Background == The film was adapted from a novel of the same name by Rona Jaffe. Jaffe had based her 1981 novel on inaccurate newspaper stories about the disappearance of James Dallas Egbert III from Michigan State University in 1979. Media accounts differed substantially from Egbert's actual story...

He used the role playing to counsel youth, and he did take the E.G.G. approach to alignment as a DM's tool somewhat seriously. Still a great DM

Mazes and Monsters
The pinnacle of fearmongering

Yeah, for those of us who played, I think we hurt ourselves rolling our eyes over that movie.
Not to mention Hanks was in that asshattery unlimited sitcom Bosom Buddies ... gag.
Best wishes, and once again, thanks.

I gotta commute home. I have a board game waiting for me in the post!
