@AliceD You have a very convincing nomination statement. I drafted one up for myself now, but I fully anticipate you'll get the position. I might stand a chance if you withdraw, ...and @mattdmo stays quiet...
since we're in an election season...might as well start some election banter... :p
More seriously...I would vote for @AliceD in a heartbeat -- your answers are superb and represent a great model for others to follow, you're generally very friendly and helpful in both comments and in chat, you bring up good points in Meta, and you have a perfect 40/40 candidate score. However....
@AliceD, with such high rep, you essentially already have most of the capabilities of a diamond mod. Wouldn't it be better for someone like me or @James (or others I expect might nominate themselves in the coming days) who do not have as high rep (and therefore do not have as many mod privileges) to instead be the ones to gain those abilities to better "spread the work load"?
Again, @AliceD, I think you're an ideal candidate, but I might as well propose that we consider that detail. Or am I thinking about that all wrong?? What do others think? @AliceD what do you think? :p.
@theforestecologist it is an interesting point and I am truly flattered by your comments. Gracias.
However, the work load of a mod should not be the main starting point for deciding who should get the position. Firstly, the work load is not big on a small stack like Bio. Secondly, the close-vote privilege is the most important privilege users can get, which is acquired at 3k. You're at 7k ...
(cont) Thirdly, at the amazing near-light speed you are gaining rep these days you will hit the 10k quickly, at which point you will get access to all the moderation tools yourself. Hence, your standpoint basically would put you out of the running too :) Lastly, it's like picking the new CEO in a multi-billion dollar company by assigning the newest employee to spread, just for the sake of reducing workload of the seniors.
correction - "Lastly, it's like picking the new CEO in a multi-billion dollar company by assigning the newest employee, just for the sake of reducing workload of the seniors.
But then, apart from the reasoning here, you are really doing an awesome job here and that would be the only reason for me being very happy seeing you get this position. The fact you will may make my life easier has nothing to do with that whatsoever.
Greetings, I know that, as a noobie who joined the community today, I probably don't have the right to comment but I wanted to anyways (sorry about that).
I think the idea you posted is actually good as many might be looking at the questions instead of other things
wich would result in effectively more attention, again, I'm new so I don't know much.
I upvoted, thank you, since i came here I've recived nothing but warm welcom from the experienced members of this comunity! I hope to someday be able to also partecipate in votes!
This site has a structural deficiency of active (up)voters. Somehow people hold back on it. Personally I am a heavy voter (up and down for that matter) and that is what makes a site.
Also, don't hold back on upvoting questions! You do not have to start right away with assessing the merits of answers you know.
Don't worry xD I totally intend to upvote everything I like. But I can't vote on things i don't really understand.
Thankfully, as a Univercity student I get acess to a lot of research material while inside the campus. And this community provides a very fun and entertaining way of studying and learning more.
@AliceD To bad I can't vote yet. I wish you good luck, and if my some sort of miracle I get enouth reputation to vote by the deadline you can count of me voting too!
@AliceD I think Kiny is referring to voting in the election which I think is 300 rep, not upvoting posts (though there might be a limit for meta that I'm not aware of)

@canadianer I think the reason was just juggling too many things, and being a moderator on another SE site as well, and wanting to let someone else take the position - there was an answer in the regular Biology.SE chat.
@canadianer I guess it was a pretty recent chat so I found it here
