@stormy Oh yes, I have to agree with the fact that we learn from mistakes more than success. Most recent mistake was putting the belt on the riding lawn mower wrong. Oops... Sorry to hear about your dog. Its really nice that there are two puppies who look like her. Just wish to have cleo back.

@Shule Just today I was think about my last grandma (on mom's side) when she died. It sticks with me and is graphic. I remember it all, what the she looked like, laying there. Makes me mad and sad how life can be like that. And now my grandma on dads side is not doing good. One day she didn't pick up the phone. She was found on the chair, couldn't move and kept saying "you see those young kids playing?"

Then it came to "Who is that blond girl over by the table. It kept getting worse grandpa said she saw the toys floating around her. Pisses me off, she is the nicest person I know and she goes through this. Enough said getting myself upset. Also cleo is a German shepherd. We loved her. She would bark and bark when people came over. When we make them go up to her they got so many licks :).

@Stormy Another thing I was reading. I do not like how race can still be a factor these days. Many people do not admit to it but it still is around! I see it all the time and it is sad. I don't point a finger but all the time on the news I will hear that a white cop arrested a black guy. Or a black guy rapped a white girl. Color makes no difference I always said to classmates, bad people are bad people. But these cases are always on the news it seems. Why? So you lived in japan, that is really..

@Ljk2000 Cleo was a German Shepherd. Aw man. She had an excellent life, kind of rare. You should think about rescuing another dog...humans, grrrr. Race is deplorable. No such thing. Truly lame of humans....

@Ljk2000 Born in Arizona. We all went to live in Japan for 4 years then to Hawaii for another 4 years. My dad was in the Air force. That is why we were called Airforce Brats!

@stormy Mom wants to get a doberman pincer pup. It will be interesting. AirForce brats, does not sound good! I respect your dad for being in the AirForce. No brat from my perspective.

@Ljk2000 Calling oneself an Airforce Brat was probably my first words. If there is a club I belong to; it is an Airforce Brat. There is Military Brat, Army Brat and Navy Brat as well. Our identity began there. No negative connotations at all. Right away you've said oodles about your life in just those two words. More 'worldly', never staying in one home more than 4 years, never to go back, never to see friends again but have the ability to make friends right away, no dilly dallying.

...I went to 13 schools before I graduated from high school. Before the internet the coolest thing was being able to re-invent oneself each move. No one knew you, knew that you were dumb once (grins) so the next time you could be one of the smart kids. Had to watch out for stuff like, 'wap, wap, wap your jaw' that we all did in Hawaii no one on the mainland understood! After Japan and Hawaii it was weird to see these roads that went straight forever...it was a life, not good not bad just was.

...Doberman is the number 2 smartest dog. Border Collie number 1. Labrador #6. I hate it when they did the 10 dumbest dogs. That wasn't fair! Are you getting a gal or a boy? We made the mistake of getting two so they could play with each other. Oh boy. The fighting is gnarly. They need to get fixed but amazingly they say to wait a YEAR for labradors as it helps their bones. They are 6 months old now and they are getting fixed!! Such sweet babies until they fight...my goodness.

...never do paper training! Just keep taking them out. We set a timer for 15 minutes and out they'd go. They were 'paper trained' as babies and we had to unlearn the message it was okay to relieve oneself in the house! J. Musser is a dog trainer!

@stormy So if I understand correctly calling one a airforce brat wasn't a bad thing? Interesting. We will be getting a female dog. Did not know they were that smart. And what don't they have out there. I am sure if I searched, well anything, it has been done. Don't plan on doing paper training. Our friend did that and every time she has the dog over all she does is makes a mess on the floor. It is bad.

@Ljk2000 No I've not heard of Henning's Cheese! But I am a major cheese lover (Wallace and Grommet and the Cheese?) smitten by cheese! I did not know I was a complete night person until I retired. Getting up every morning of my life to make it to classes, to get to a job, to teach classes...arrrgghhh. No wonder it was so tough! You sound as if you need to consider self employment, young man! My son is 11 years older than you and did not hold a job until...25. His daddy has paid his way in life and breaks my heart. Not a subject to go on about. I am proud of you!
