Hi @Stephie! I'm so glad you nominated yourself along with Kevinski for moderator!!!! You'd be such a perfect addition to the team in so many ways! It was kind of both of you to come forward even though you're busy with other things. I hope people look around the site and get to know you and your style, so you can get more votes! Of course, votes aren't everything in this decision, especially because it's a volunteer position. I want to mention a few typos though!
I won't edit them myself because I don't want my name on your post. They're little, but you know how annoying I am when it comes to editing! "Community" is mis-spelled in the first main paragraph. Also, I think "leaned" a lot was meant to be "learned" a lot!
My stickler self would put a comma at the end of the word "rest" rather than a period because the next section starts with a lower case "and." Alternatively, I'd leave the period and start a second sentence. In that case, I'd probably leave out the word "And" and start that next sentence with "I feel this...."
Lastly, after the word "flag-handling" I'd put "to guiding" rather than "over guiding" to make the sentence flow better and keep the same format of the rest of it.
I probably shouldn't even have brought this up, and hope you don't hate me!!! It's my OCD editor's brain, which worked well when I edited thousands of pages of legal briefs every month, but doesn't work if I'm at risk of losing a friend!
Please not only feel free to ignore this, but also to ask a mod to delete it if it's not appropriate in the room. Hey, if you get to be a mod, you can delete it yourself!!!
Honestly, I really am sorry for my arrogance! What you wrote is awesome, and perfectly describes the great qualities we're looking for over here, which of course you've already been doing! I deeply thank you for your willingness to take on the extra work involved. I'd be proud to serve as part of a community with you on the leadership team.
@stormy, you said something really sweet a number of days ago, and I want to thank you! Thinking I could be a moderator is a big honor. Our candidates are far better qualified than I am, but just to have you suggest it was an honor. I loved that you said I was a "cheer-leader" because that's a role I've tried to play here, and you even said it was an important function! I used to do better, but will try to spend more time here and do what I can.
I think you're the "plant-whisperer" which means you can encourage things to grow pretty much any place! Your skill and knowledge blow me away! If I pick on you over procedural things it's only because we're all supposed to hold each other accountable, not ever out of disrespect!

@NiallC., I really was waiting for someone to come by and say something under my wall of text, but it didn't happen!!!! Does the new Code of Conduct mean we don't have to edit "Thank you" out of the questions? I feel like I saw something in it that indicated we would appear unfriendly, and I agree. On this site, we've usually edited them out. What's the current thinking? Thank you (ha, ha)!

@kevinsky posted an identification question with very little information and a bad picture! I assumed/hoped it was for the purpose of getting guidance as to how to ask a good ID question, so I added almost the same comment I would if was a new user. It felt strange, but I hope it was helpful for the site. I do think seeding questions like that can be a good idea. (I just noticed the pun in that sentence, ha, ha!)

@Sue I appreciate your comments! (I wouldn’t even mind if you did the edit.) I will go over the details tomorrow, today was just too busy and the eclipse like the finale. We had the minors with us, so that they could also watch, but around eleven the younger one caved, the clouds got denser, and we went home. The moon left the shadow just a bit later and she could see that as well.

@Sue @NiallC. Well, I'm not really 100% sure that they're hawk moths, but we always called them hummingbird moths. They're the same kind you see in the second picture on this page: pennington.com/all-products/wild-bird/resources/…
