Q: How to view a list of databases under server in SQL Anywhere like we do in SQL Server

kamalpreetI am very new to SQL Anywhere. I have been working with SQL Server for a long time. In SQL Server, if we need to see the list of database under server, we can see that under Server Explorer. How can I do same in SQL Anywhere? I have just installed SQL Anywhere 16 and have no idea how to find S...

Q: SQL Server insert randomly takes 10+ seconds to complete?

Casey WilkinsI have an insert statement that is being generated by the .NET Entity Framework. In most cases, this particular insert will execute in 0ms according SQL Server Profiler. One out of every 30 or so inserts will jump to as high as 12 seconds duration, causing the .NET client on the other end to sh...

@MaxVernon are you moving to trash deleted questions? I don't remember which ones I have flagged.

@McNets trash is just for chatty comments. The Ghost Records archive is where deleted questions go.

@MaxVernon ok

but, yes, deleted questions are removed from this room after they've been deleted.
so anything you see here is "to be deleted", if you agree the question has no merit and should be deleted.
@McNets luckily, clicking a one-boxed question in here results in a new tab being opened in your browser - if you see you've already voted to delete or whatever, you can just close the tab and move on. I tend to start at the bottom of the room (the most recent messages), and work upwards until I see a question I've already voted on.

@MaxVernon Ok, I've I find some deleted (red) question, I'll post the link here too.

@McNets if they are already deleted, I think we can skip having them in here. I'd like to not overwork the room :-)
@McNets however, if you find something that needs to be deleted, please add it here!

@MaxVernon I'll do!

cheers! Also, we tend to be pretty aggressive about moving chatty messages into the trash; don't be alarmed, we just like to keep the "fluff" to a minimum.

Q: Tolerating SQL errors (orderby not in distinct, select not in group by) in MySQL 5.7.13 vs 5.7.11

usr-local-ΕΨΗΕΛΩΝThis question is related to the following 2 SQL errors (line breaks added by me) MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException (0x80004005): Expression #2 of ORDER BY clause is not in SELECT list, references column 'auitool2014.a.prog' which is not in SELECT list; this is incompatible with DISTINCT My...

Would you consider reopening? I think it's a real issue, considering the wildly used GROUP BY "feature" of MySQL and systems upgrading to 5.7 and 8.0

Does a solution exist, though?

@AndriyM No, not really.

6:47 PM
@ypercubeᵀᴹ is there a possibility of a good answer?
seems to me that the only answer would be "write your group-by clauses correctly." which probably isn't much help, since ostensibly you'd already know that you should do that if you see the error.

@MaxVernon yes, something like that. An answer that offers 2-3 sensible options
Not sure if I'll have the energy to write an answer today thoough. Car broke down ...

@ypercubeᵀᴹ I could get behind a re-open vote if you really want it...
