hello sir @JohnRennie
@user8718165 hi
@JohnRennie are you working sir?
I've finished work, but I'm on the phone at the moment ...
@JohnRennie okay sir...please ping when you're free...:-)
09:16
@user8718165 I'm free now.
09:35
@JohnRennie Sir I was stuck with a similar problem....Figured it now...thanks for pinging :-)
@user8718165 Cool :-)
@JohnRennie Sir I got it correct but I want to try it using a method I think should work...can you please tell me why mine isn't?
@user8718165 Yes, I can have a look ...
@JohnRennie A class of 10 students...3 are girls...In how many ways can they be seated if no two girls are allowed to sit together?
@JohnRennie I did it like 10!-(2*9!)...but that way I'm far away from the ans
You calculate the total number of permutations then subtracted the number of permutations that had two girls sitting together?
09:44
@JohnRennie yes sir....exactly...I want to do it that way
@JohnRennie Please tell me sir
That should work, so the error must be that you incorrectly calculated the number of ways of seating two girls together.
@JohnRennie can you tell me just the expression sir?
@JohnRennie using a calculator...but still
@JohnRennie sir
I'm not sure what the expression is for the number of ways two girls can seated together
@JohnRennie Sir 2*9! Can tell us all ways whether 2 girls are sitting together or all the 3 girls are sitting together.....is that right?
It's obviously not correct because it isn't giving you the correct answer.
09:53
@JohnRennie LOL
@JohnRennie okay sir...Intuitions don't work well with PnC...I think I should stick with the book

1 hour later…
11:18
@JohnRennie yes sir.... That's the correct answer of the same question... But the book isn't the same though XD
Thanks for the search Sir@JohnRennie
