@satan29 idk hindi lol
math phy were super easy
probably the easiest year since NTA took over
people said chem was direct from ncert

@RishiNandhaVanchi oh oops
@RishiNandhaVanchi thats actually.....unlucky

@napstablook idk how much of it is direct repeat
but all of them were familiar question types
@satan29 true
everyone's gonna get more

easy papers dont even leave the slightest room for error in comp. exams
@RishiNandhaVanchi yeah
I suffered cos of this in Jan attempt

5:07 AM
Congrats

@satan29 that is one of my biggest fears, silly mistakes are my downfall..

most people (including me) have that fear. Just hope for a tough paper incase you are well prepared

I just loose about 40 marks in almost every jee main paper to sillies. Paper this year is easy from what I have seen.
tomorrow I have to face the judgement day(tm). Wish me luck I'd better get back to revising.

All the best!!! just dont panic. I feel panic is the leading cause of all JEEM mistakes.

psa
@JohnRennie I have a classical mechanics problem, do you have a few minutes?

@psa you can post it, but I'm answering a long question in another room I'm afraid.

6:26 AM
@JohnRennie OK, take your time, I'll post it anyway
I think I can do this problem with the Lagrangian, but I can't do it that way, I need to use conservation of momentum + energy.

7:39 AM
apparently day 2 got a super hard paper
or atleast thats what my friend says
@napstablook may not work for you
but this is what I did
everytime ill lose out on a 90+ score getting around 70+ in math and phy because of sillies
I started reading paper before answering
it stimulates something similar to you reading the paper after the three hours is over and realy "oh shit I made a silly there" but during the exam, so you can avoid that silly
but again might not work for everybody
I read mains paper for the first 30minutes (not exaggerating)
and then started solving
@napstablook exactly my case before I starting reading paper before solving
*realizing not realy
o wait another friend says it was very easy

@RishiNandhaVanchi that's an interesting approach (I myself have never heard of this). did you get a lot of changes upon doing a readthrough? how thoroughly did you read?

I read enough to arrange info given in my brain
and sketch solution if they are straight forward
i only read sections I make lots of sillies
i read phy part I, math part I, phy part II
and then start solving sections I havent read after the 30 minutes of reading
it works for me, i did the same with kvpy
from losing 40 marks with sillies alone, it gets better to about sillies in only 1 or 2 problems
buts the reading part shouldnt be rushed
you shouldnt aim to read all the 3 sections in 30 minutes
defeats the purpose
read as much as you can, but properly

that makes sense, also I end up making most sillies in physics

my physics part used to be literally full of sillies

how much do you expect to get?
@RishiNandhaVanchi that is not an issue, NTA has decided to sort of equalize on basis of hardness of paper for each shift
but they are real secret-y about it

aah right
@napstablook im not sure this time actually

9:06 AM
I still don't understand how they get around to combining 4 different sessions though..
@RishiNandhaVanchi can we move this discussion to another chatroom? I have uite a few ns to ask

sure
because from what I remember I did I should be expecting 230ish but seems like way more than what I can expect
I only aimed for 200 so uh... most probably not gonna get 230ish
how to see chat invites
nvm got it

wait a sec
I already made a room

got it yes

1 hour later…
10:37 AM
I don't understand why this regular expression gives me an error I want to replace the all ' of $value but it gives me an error str_replace (' / \ '/ g', '', $ value);

How can we prove that the apparent position of nearby stars is a circle wrt the "fixed" background stars when they are on the plane perpendicular to the ecliptic plane?

While it's intuitively clear(with a ray diagram) how can we prove it more mathematically...for example get equation of a circle at the end.

3:14 PM
if its not on the perpendicular plane then it will be in general an ellipse and if it's on the ecliptic then the locus will be a straight line...

I see a similarity with the Lissajous figures...Is this accidental or is there a connection @JohnRennie ?

4:05 PM
@ManasDogra I never managed to get any significant grasp of celestial mechanics I'm afraid. I never got the hang of geometry in 3D.
