In Agamas, we find the mention of three Jyotirlingas or Shiva lingas known by the names Itaralinga, BAnalinga and Swayambhu linga.
For example in KulArnava Tantram Lord Shiva says:
BAnetaraswayambhAkhylingatritayasamstitham| Tattvato Yo VijAnAthi Sa
Guruh Kathithah Priye||

First of all Each Veda is divided into four portion Samhita, Brahamnas, Aranyakas and Upanishads
@Tezz This is wrong. Vedas have no such divisions. Vedas or Sruti are only the Samhitas. Others are later formed as supplementary texts. Brahmanas etc are not Vedas.
@Rickross Yeah. Samhitas are core and direct Revelations in state of Tapasya. But I think Vedantins believe in all portions equally. but not sure. They at least believe in Upanishads which are based on other portions except Isha. So, i think they must believe equally all portions as VEdas.
@TheDestroyer Someone believing in some texts is alrite but that does not mean that those texts become as important as Vedas. Also it does not depend on what some group of people think. Vedantins believe in BS. Then what if they start saying BS is also Vedas?
@Rickross But BS has many differences with Vedas. But this subject has different opinions. Some believe Aranyakas, Brahmanas and Upanishads are true by meaning only while Samhitas are true by word and meaning.
@TheDestroyer I am not saying true or false. They are also important texts. But Samhitas are the Vedas. So, if some Q is Does Veda says? Then ideally it should be answered from the Veda Samhitas only.
@Tezz Some scripture also says MB is the 5th Veda? So what are we going to do with that?
@Tezz I don't think it depends on interpretation. Vedas means the samhiats. Others are not revelations. They are supplementary texts to the Vedas.
@RakeshJoshi I used to think that everyone knows that Veda Samhitas are the Vedas. So i am a bit surprised to see that many people have other opinions.
@Rickross most of the Vedanta Acharyas like Adi Shankara, Srikantha, Ramanuja etc... consider all portion as Vedas... actually they primarily focus on Upanishad... so many people at present time also believe all parts as Vedas...
@Tezz Its bad. And these guys are pathetic. Why dont u have the guts to say why u downvoted?? It bad specially when u worked hard for compiling an answer.. And people like u & me write a lot of answers so for us it feels even worse.
@Rickross Yes. Just downvoting becuase answer is not accordance witrh their Acharyas thoughts is very bad. It takes lots of efforts to write an answer here fetching all sources. These narrow minded people downvote them.
@TheDestroyer Yes i can name them too... :D.. One is actually quite famous.. His principle activity on the site is downvoting posts which say Shiva is parabrahman.. But nothing can be done Shiva is indeed Parabrahman :D
@RakeshJoshi yeah but the thing is most people believe all parts are Vedas (which I too)... so sometimes we have to just write for sake of people of site...
@Rickross We can easily guess them. It's not difficult. But this practice is bad. If answer demeans their God (obviously no one would do it) or something offensive, they should downvote it. Not because if an answer praising Shiva. I may discuss curbing this practise.
@Tezz The people belonging to only one sect are like that..something to think about.. What do they do? what do they eat? I see great similarities bteen them and the mUs.
@TheDestroyer well I too know the downvoter... actually before writing todays answer I had recorded reputations and votes cast of every user as I was sure it would be downvoted... So I quickly knew it... 😀😀
@Tezz Some people scream from the day till night that their God is supreme..This only shows that that it is not the case.. Supremacy can't be proved or need not require to be proved..Supremacy is something that is self evident.. None says that look this is the sun he is the supreme in the morning sky..coz that is simply not needed.. Shiva -Shakti's supremacy is also selfevident..No effort is needed to prove it. @TheDestroyer
@Tezz @Rickross If an answer praising their rival God, they can ignore it. Just like i don't upvote to philosophy which i don't follow or Smritis which i don't follow. Downvoting is meant for wrong answer. Downvoting every answer which praising Shiva is bad. This doesn't come under wrong answer. These are philosophical differences. There are different and unfortunately they can't understand it.
@Rickross @Tezz Actually, i asked a different question when i joined this site.
First of all, I don't hate any God, whoever it is Vishnu or Shiva or Krishna. I respect Vishnu (especially Lord Venkateswara of Tirupati) as much as Shiva, but i like Shiva more when compared to other Gods. I'm neither a Shaivaite nor Vaishnavaite by birth rather my family worships a Grama Devata...
@TheDestroyer @Tezz The most irritating comment i find is " I don't demean Shiva and i consider him as the greatest Vaishnava" As if that guy is doing some favor to Prabrahamn Shiva by saying that. I hate to see this comment..He is also trying to demean but in disguise.
@TheDestroyer yeah I don't think I have downvoted any single answer which is saying Vishnu is supreme... most cases I upvote them... even in extreme sectarian cases I just don't upvote and let it remain without downvoting... Total no. Of Downvotes which I have casted upto now are only 7....
But I think I should now increase the number....... @Rickross @TheDestroyer
@Tezz Even i don't downvote if some answer says Vishnu is Supreme. But even i used to not downvote answers which say "Vishnu is only Supreme". But i'm changing opinion these days.
@Tezz This is also good solution. But i will try to make a good meta post on it, digging all rules on SE.
@Rickross haha... but one thing we should care while downvoting is we should be perfectly calm while downvoting...otherwise some Karma will affect us... @TheDestroyer
@Rickross is eating popcorn and laughing when people say only vishnu is supreme or brahma is supreme or krishna is supreme or mahesha is supreme ... :)
@Tezz @TheDestroyer Actually LordShiva himself made things difficult for us. He concealed too many things and he also said many things in many scriptures that are said just for maintaining secrecy. So they are opposite of what is true. But that was needed. Moksha should be delayed.
it is because that only selective commentaries are made on upanishad by all acharyas and termed as vedanta .. hence masses started beleiving them as core part of veda
samhita has few comentaties hence not famous amonst masses
@Tezz Yeah. This practise is bad. They could refrain from Voting. Will they reject those Vedic statements which say about Supremacy of Shiva or other Gods? let them believe their Acharyas intepretations. But downvoting just because an answer is prasing other God is bad.
@Tezz Yes that's the reason.. There are many things said in scriptures which i am afraid are not true..they r said just to delude the greater population..Those who r near to moksha will get to know the real stuffs from other channels..
@RakeshJoshi Yes me too. But i am waiting for Wimblendon .I am a hardcore Federer fan.
@TheDestroyer Now the thing we can do is we can teach them a lesson... we can show them that we also have downvote button... and we can also press if they can press... @Rickross
@Tezz Yes let;s do it. But many among those down voters actually don't post anything.. their main pastime is downvoting and praising their fav God in comments :P
@TheDestroyer Rakesh Joshi downvotes a lot. He downvoted tezz's answer which said Sri Rudram is dedicated to Lord Shiva.. Can u imagine??..so i think he is just the same as some of these guys. :P
@Tezz I will try to explain it's not good practise to downvote an answer just because it was praising other God. I will suggest them to not downvote and ..(let me frame) and discuss with other Mods
@Rickross Sometimes even i think the same about Rakesh :P :P
@RakeshJoshi Ram won't downvote but he will mention it in comments (only if other party mentions). But sometimes he posts some non constructive comments.
Yeah ram has rigid opinions... but he doesn't downvote.. actually he is a good Vaishnava. . He also respects others views... he says 'Loka bhinna Ruchi'...
@TheDestroyer also Be Happy was a good person.. he was Vaishnava but he posted nice Shaiva answers also like Lingodhbhava... difference between Shankara and Shiva etc...
@Tezz Yeah. He was also a good user. Even most of his answers are neutral. His answers show his true bhakti towards Krishna without any hatred towards other Gods.
