I shall henceforth refer to myself as a philosophy boffin

Even after looking that word up, I'm not too sure if I should get offended or flattered by that description. I do feel a little sad to have been misunderstood, but what can you do; can't please everyone.

Happy Saturday, symposiasts :)
@JosephWeissman Really? I can't use Wikipedia for tag descriptions?
Well, it's a little more nuanced than that.
I might suggest looking at this question on meta.SO: meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/79000/…
@JosephWeissman Ah, OK. Could you include an attribution then?
My thinking was that anything is better then nothing.
Plagiarism is worse, right?
A paraphrase of some subset of the content on Wikipedia would be better than nothing, sure.
@JosephWeissman Not sure. I am obviously not claiming to be the author.

Anyway. Again I'd suggest taking a look at the discussion on meta.SO as this is really more a question about how the network thinks about tag wikis and how to use Wikipedia content in them.
Hope you're having a nice Saturday :)
@JosephWeissman Yeah, I am. But I really cannot be bothered to try again. As far as I'm concerned the tags refer to Wikipedia automatically. :)
Unfortunately, they don't; as we've discussed -- and as discussed in the linked question on meta.SO about whether it's okay to copy-paste from Wikipedia -- that content is licensed in certain ways which means that you have to at least provide a link back.
Or at least that's generally thought to be enough. But either way it's much better to grow that kind of internal content organically (just like with anywhere else on the site) than copy-paste from elsewhere.
@JosephWeissman Could be. And very well spotted. Thanks. But, in such case, I decline to contribute to the tag description. I just hope the tag stays.
