Q: Warm clothing options for vegans

DavidI’m unable to find vegan wool and I don’t like purchasing petroleum based products. What can I wear to keep warm?

ha, I forgot there's a question about vegan BDSM products
@DavidS just saw it too haha
"I want to hurt people but not animals" xD
2
hahah :D
I didn't open the link here because I didn't want it on my work computer history :D
yeah, me neither ._.
oh you weren't quoting the question?
hm, I wonder what my coat ffilling is made of, I don't remember
polyester fleece
@DavidS Nah, I was just picturing what could be their motive :p
My coat contains wool... It's an old one
10:18
Yeah, I had things that were wool but eventually I decided to donate them and buy new things
I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing the things you have
I just get a bit obsessive.
but then I drive a car and it's hard to get all the animals out of that.
if I never had to drive mum anywhere I might be tempted to get rid of the car.
I don't need it
@DavidS I think I managed to do that
I bought a car recently and made sure nothing had leather in it
but there's probably animal products hidden somewhere I guess
:(
There's schemes where you can hire cars that you can just pick up whenever you want
yeah tyres for a start I'm afraid
made with tallow in the rubber
hoses in the engine bay
I'm pretty sure the suede on the trim of the seats in my car is fake but the steering wheel is real leather.
but then it's not a new car, that somehow makes it better
it's hard to escape leather stuff.
I manage to find a couple of brands that make shoes from plastic
it's far from being ecofriendly, but at least I don't wear leather.
my "smart" shoes are from vegetarian shoes in brighton
I'm currently wearing a pair of Asics that were advertised as vegan, and I'm eyeing a pair of Merrell's from their vegan range to replace a worn out pair I had
All the vegan shoes seem to be for girls.
10:41
that's true

3 hours later…
13:50
@TheFarmer seems dupe?
@Zanna it's at least very similar
maybe they will agree
checked the queue and voted for your dupe suggestion
@Zanna I did flag it? Darn I don't remember doing so ._.
We have to eat something and these questions like "omg ploughing kills worms so clearly any deliberately grown crop is not vegan" just makes me think people will give up and eat meat
@Zanna oh, we're not talking about the same question ...
13:55
I don't think the person asking the question about 'how do we justify growing vegetables' was trolling.
@avazula sorry not that question, I was referring to this one about pesticides
@DavidS neither do I
I'm getting mixed up now
sorry :(
going to sweep the floor
argh, I didn't mean it was your fault though
hopefully that won't upset anyone except these wispy spiders that seem to be everywhere in my house right now XD
@DavidS no worries :)
13:58
wispy spiders! \o/
the only kind that are fine
hahaha yeah there are some fat little jumping ones that bother me a bit
yikes
i dont mind spiders I can pick up
so that means, so light you can't feel them
heavy spiders go in a duster (whether they are fast or slow)
haha I catch them with a cup and take them outside
reminds me of a bill bailey sketch
14:57
started buying new bedding for my new house, and halfway through I was like ahhh -- no wool no wool no wool
hah
it took me so long to buy new pillows because I was thinking "no feathers no feathers no feathers"
Luckily there's a lot of 'wool' throws and things that are actually cotton or polyester
and you get into the whole thing about cotton production being bad in terms of pollution and being bad for the health fo the people working there
so then you have to go organic (well you dont have to but if you get into it too much you start to think these things)
nightmare
15:24
yikes
all my cotton clothes in general shrink so much that I've become a fan of tri-blend stuff with mostly rayon/polyester
so what I'm hearing is: a true vegan is a naked vegan
no because you'd still be stepping on ants and thinsg with your naked feet
so a true vegan is a dead vegan
haha
but is cremation vegan?
oh man
You should ask the question!
Is cremation vegan
maybe I'll just start a vegan funeral company
haha, but what a depressing thought
I don't know how anyone can get into that business.
It's a great service they provide but man I'd fucking kill myself.
at which point I'd need a vegan funeral company
wouldn't have to go far at least
15:39
they charge an arm and a bloody leg that's what it is
I suppose that's right.
I never thought about money, I've never been able to relate to people choosing what to study at university based on what will make them money.
Surely this is your chance to study something you are interested in to a high level.
then you worry about work later.
this is why I'm not a doctor or a lawyer or a dentist or a funeral director I suppose
agreed
