Eggs maybe considered vegetarian by many since most eggs are unfertilized and do not result in the death of any animals. However, egg farms are usually not cruelty-free since when hens get too old to hatch eggs, they are slaughtered for meat.

I was issued with a challenge the other day "ok you show me that as veganism has increased, animal slaughter has decreased".
Which although in my mind is nonsensical, because
a.) There are other factors at that could push numbers up (e.g. Cheaper/more convenient meat)
b.) It's the basic rule...
