What's a good port for RIDE to run on?
Disregard that message. Wrong mode >_<

Any golf ideas for this?

@Bubbler ⌽,0 1↓⊢
also 1↓' *'⍴⍨2×⍵ saves 2
f←{g⍉g⍉↑⍵}⍳↓¨∘⊂1↓' *'⍴⍨+⍨

4:58 AM
you meant "repeat ' *' 2×⍵ times"
too bad palindromize doesn’t work for that

@Bubbler leading and trailing whitespace is allowed in that challenge, you can omit the 1↓ and replace ' *' with '* '

I don't know how to create a shortcut in the dock, but the RIDE that comes packaged with the interpreter has a launcher script (`/Applications/Dyalog-16.0.app/Contents/MacOS/launcher`) that simply uses the RIDE_SPAWN environment variable. You can create your own script that launches a specific version:
#!/bin/sh
export RIDE_SPAWN="/Applications/Dyalog-16.0.app/Contents/Resources/Dyalog/mapl"
exec "$D/Dyalog-16.0" "$@"
Sorry, that got posted prematurely. Should read:

#!/bin/sh
export RIDE_SPAWN="/Applications/Dyalog-16.0.app/Contents/Resources/Dyalog/mapl"
exec "path to built version of RIDE"
The RIDE_CONF variable was added to allow users to launch a predefined configuration by name. You start RIDE in normal mode, create a configuration with all settings you would like (exe, environment variables, command line arguments etc.) name it and save.
You then launch into that configuration by specifying the RIDE_CONF variable, something like:

export RIDE_CONF=myConfig
exec "path to RIDE"

@Gil I put this in a launcher script (and made it executable) under ride/_/ride42/Ride-4.2-darwin-x64/Ride-4.2.app/Contents/MacOS/ and edited Ride's Info.plist to change the CFBundleExecutable to from Ride-4.2 to launcher
when I call the launcher script from the command-line, it works as intended, but now when I attempt to open the desktop icon, it doesn't appear the launcher script is being called
I think macos is just being weird
Thanks for your help though @Gil

9:46 AM
haa, I renamed launcher to Ride-4.2 and renamed Ride-4.2 to something else and now it works :D
for reference here's my "launcher" file
#!/bin/sh
export RIDE_SPAWN="/Applications/Dyalog-16.0.app/Contents/Resources/Dyalog/mapl"
export RIDE_CONF=default
cd "$(dirname "$0")"
D="$(pwd)"
exec "$D/test" "$@"
where test is the name of the original ride executable

@Gil ^

I used your launcher script with the cd ...;D=... part from Dyalog-16.0.app's launcher script
Thanks again @Gil :)
this new version of ride looks very cool btw

@Adám sup

@Uriel Hello there. Has been a while.

3 hours later…
8:17 PM
@Adám, on the RIDE download page on MyDyalog: should "17.0: RIDE 3.0, 4.0 and 4.1 will connect to version 16.0; RIDE 4.1 is preferable. " have "17.0" instead of "16.0"?

@Zacharý No, but it should say "to version 17.9; RIDE 4.1 is". I'll have them fix that.

*17.0 ?

@Zacharý Some customers are in the beta programme, and have received 17.0. We were going to release it this week, but we've pushed it two weeks due to the chief architect going on vacation next week…

Yeah, that'll set things back

2 hours later…
10:20 PM
@Adám Enough to go for Mechaye HaMeysim? :p

@Uriel I think we have to meet in person for that :-D IY"H.

@Adám maybe if I go for the student contest this year

@Uriel Ooh. Btw, you are (or used to be) into Python, right?

@Adám my favorite one behind APL

@Uriel Just today, I started working on our Jupyter Kernel. The idea is to transform the chat lessons into notebooks so that they can preserve the interactive element they had when live.

10:28 PM
@Adám haven't seen the lessons in a while. I've just seen they got a tab on dyalog's site navbar

@Uriel Well, I stopped giving them when I ran out of material. H.PWiz is doing an internship this summer, and we hope to make notebooks together then.

@Adám I get it that dyalog's recruitment dept had opened a dedicated branch for ppcg?

@Uriel Not quite yet ;-) But golfers can make good APLers, as they are willing to embrace the untraditional and terse, and many like Unicode symbols, array programming, and functional style.

@Adám speaking of which, any chance you got the challenge's files? (I get it they are out by now)
And btw I really liked the rho poem

@Uriel The challenge's files? You mean the ones you download from the student competition website?
@Uriel It isn't mine. Richard Stallman wrote it.

10:41 PM
@Adám I haven't signed up yet

@Uriel Do you want me to email them to you?

@Adám ooh 😶 I start to think it's going to lurk in my head for some time
@Adám are there links to the pdfs?

@Uriel Phase 2's materials are here.
@Uriel See the original nusach here.
@Uriel Phase 1's pdf is here.

@Adám thanks!
@Adám it looks like some ppcger wrote it

@Uriel How so? (Indeed, all the contributors have PPCG accounts…)

10:55 PM
@Adám your fourth line is better
