@flawr Hmm. I know fiber optic cables have to have repeaters to keep signal strength up, so maybe those alone would introduce too much noise/error?

@El'endiaStarman apparently they use repeaters/amplifiers after 50-100km, but some researcher were able to identify signals at over 12'000km
(12Mm? nobody seems to use that:)
