@amWhy @XanderHenderson: Note that the answer whose poster is making such a fuss of reopening the question is not even correct.

o/ @XanderHenderson
Good morning, @amWhy
It's Friday!!
@gimusi I have long argued that such poor questions should be simply closed and, if possible, deleted. That, in fact, we should judge older questions by the same standards of more recent questions. The point of view is clearly at odds with your point of view. The suggestion that old questions be locked is an attempt at compromise. It is a good faith effort to give up something in the hopes that those that generally disagree with me will give up something, as well. Let us note for the record that you have indicated a dogmatic opposition, and an unwillingness to compromise. — Xander Henderson 37 secs ago

@DRF: What does "DRF" stand for, by the way? The letters are adjacent on the keyboard...
DRF
DRF
@user21820 It's the first,first and last letter of my names. First of given and first and last of family.
Ok so it's a coincidence!
Or not really, since you added 3 bits of information haha..

@Nick But it's Friday!!! Yay!!
@SimplyBeautifulArt Wherefore art thou?? Happy Friday! I hope your semester will end soon, so you can enjoy a great semester break!!
Take a great break! Make or take a great break! Fake or make or take a great break, for your sake!

Last day of class.
Finals next week.
Only five more hours to get through.
19:17
@XanderHenderson Yay!!!
@XanderHenderson then you grade ...and submit grades ... THEN YOUR DONE!!
@XanderHenderson Suck it up! You can do it! Promise yourself a nice brew or cocktail after class (when you're home).
19:30
@amWhy I tend to drink scotch while grading.
Also, funnily enough, students on the bottom of the stack of exams tend to be a lot smarter than students on the top of the pile.
@XanderHenderson I was going to mention that liquor of favor, but I wasn't sure if my memory was failing me!
@XanderHenderson Do they hand them in in a pile face up, or face down?
They hand them in face up. The front page is all instructions and little boxes for noting grades.
So I don't worry about them attempting to cheat off each other.
(the little boxes are for me---I record the number of points that each student gets on each problem, which I use to perform some limited item analysis)
I was seldom the "first" to hand in my test; moreso probably in the first third to hand it in. But I was top of my class as an undergrad, in every class!. So it sort of makes sense. But then again, in the classes I teach, I notice female students, although they may finish "early" tend to double and triple check their answers, which is sort of what I did too. But it also depends on the "fairness" of the test. And it sounds like yours are fair, given the distribution.
20:40
I like to think that my exams are hard, but ultimately fair.
Typically if a student tries to hand in an exam before the full time is up, I will send them back to their desk to spend more time on it.
The lowest scoring exams tend to be the first ones turned in.
The highest scores come from those students who stay to the bitter end.
