@SomethingJapanese that will be in my head all night
Thanks for that
Best song in the whole movie
I used to not like her because she was mean to Sandy, but seeing it as an adult, she's the best character, and Sandy and Danny are chumps

japanese.stackexchange.com/questions/6541/… I'm afraid but...
Never did I imagine that the って would be so confusing to some Japanese learners.
Maybe it's my English. I can't explain things so well as sawa san and Tsuyoshi Ito san.
@Chocolate I get the impression that both sawa and TsuyoshiIto have some experience teaching Japanese to English speakers, likely at the college level
I have just discovered that one of my local bars interprets the order for a "beer, a tall please" as "I'd like a liter of beer in a pitcher-sized mug-like thing"
Ah~~ naruhodo... Yes I always thought sawa-san is a professional.
I spent a few hours recovering from that beer, playing 麻雀 at a friend's house
beer, a tall please って…
04:35
a tall is usually... ~650ml
(granted... while playing, we also had a few Guinness and some rum)
(I'm going to England next month, so I need to learn)
Beer glassware comprises the drinking vessels made of glass designed or commonly used for drinking beer. Different styles of glassware exist for a number of reasons: they may reflect national traditions; they may reflect legislation regarding serving measures; they may relate to practicalities of stacking, washing and avoiding breakage; they may promote commercial breweries; they may be folk art, novelty items or used in drinking games; and they may complement different styles of beer for a variety of reasons, including enhancing aromatic volatiles, showcasing the appearance, and/or havin...

@jkerian wow, haha
It's also way too late for me to be up, but someone linked me to youtube a while back
'night all

How would you say "There is an average of 150mm rainfall and 50% humidity in winter."?
What is 我が身? I made a comment about it here: japanese.stackexchange.com/a/6522/1328
07:23
nevermind, I made a post

3 hours later…
10:07
@小太郎 How about...
hm, that looks about right to me :)
Thanks
Would "東京の気温は2度から13度までです" be correct for "Tokyo's temperature is from 2 degrees to 13 degrees"?
10:22
I think we write 東京の気温は2℃~13℃です, we say like 東京の気温は2度から13度です. TV announcers say like
Weather forecast says like
Ok, thanks
How come the ending まで isn't needed?
Hmm
まで is often left out

15:42
@Chocolate It's probably different in Britain... "pint" seems to be the normal size
I mostly went to the whiskey pubs when I was there, so I'm not actually sure
16:29
Morning all :)
It's sad to me that older questions on this site have so many more votes then the newer ones
We should be voting more, people!
(I think, anyway)
17:06
I wonder how active we are, relative to where we were last year
We should probably have more people with japanese.stackexchange.com/badges/59/announcer
I'm a bit embarassed to note that I only have 2 (1 for linking to our resources FAQ on meta)
Only 20 people have voted more than 10 times in August
that's down from ~50-60 people from a year ago
Some of that is probably fatigue. I know I've cast 1500+ votes on the site, but I don't keep up with all the questions and answers anymore. But another part of it is, I don't see most of the newer users voting either.

I'm somewhat amused at the huge list of "What does X mean?" similar questions, when browsing japanese.stackexchange.com/questions/6576

@Troyen Yeah! Good idea!
@jkerian Start a question with "what is the difference between" and you'll get a lot of "suggested questions"
@jkerian Is that like if you tweet a link or something?
I try to vote on every question I think is a valid question
When I joined I only voted on questions that I also wanted to know the answer to
I vote a lot more now
