@FelipeOliveira Yoko Hasegawa in Japanese: A Linguistic Introduction writes: "A succession of voiceless consonants resulting from vowel devoicing gives a harsh impression to speakers of other dialects." (p.37)

I imagine that impression might vary from speaker to speaker, but I'm not really qualified to say anything about that. I found it really interesting, though.

I’m not sure if I get the right idea of what you say, but we have many dialects in our language here and I guess this “harsh impression” thing Also happens from one region to another, but here in Brazil it is mainly because the dialect gives away where the person is from, and brings up some cultural differences that people are not very fond of
Indeed an interesting topic!!

でどうでしょう
particle-で と words のタグ付けんのも
おかしくない?
@Chocolate mhmm
I agree that it's basically a word request question
meaning のタグつけんのも
おかしくね?
I'm taking out those tags
and leaving just etymology behind
これらのタグ付けしたの、ぜんぶ

Welp, time to do some cleanup work

タグの編集、しまくってはるやん・・
It's not malicious vandalism though, so I'm disinclined to impose suspensions
お掃除、たいへんだぁ・・
we have some puzzling tags though
what is a 'sentence' tag anyway
virtually anything will fit into it
it's just marginally more specific than 'phrase' and more than 'word'
なんでしょね、sentence のタグって
説明ないのねえ

@Flaw Well, suspensions aren't necessarily intended as punishment. There are multiple reasons you might suspend someone. One reason is to protect the site from a pattern of problematic behavior.

@JACK Please be careful when adding tags. Make sure the tags apply to the question before you edit.

@snailboat I just posted an answer to
this question. https://japanese.stackexchange.com/questions/60271/what-is-the-best-way-to-express-the-concept-of-accountability-in-japanese and would like to know if it is considered a valid answer. I wasn't sure so I put a disclaimer at the beginning.

What does areba mean in 「電気炊飯器があれば、ご飯を炊くのは簡単です」and what form of word is it?
17:01
@digorydoo it is a conjugated form of ある.
ある -> to have
あれば -> if (subject) has
Ah, thanks!

aoi is blue, midoriiro is green, but アオガエル is a green frog.. wtf?!
17:53
Also strange: aoi sora (blue sky), cha iro no maruta (brown log). Why not aoi iro no sora, or cha maruta?
18:35
the green signal on the traffic light is ao too

ありがとう, interesting read.

Q: How indistinguishable is blue from green really?

deceze青 ao seems to be used very much interchangeably for both blue and green. Why is that so, and how does 緑 midori play into this?

also interesting ^
20:36
Midori clearly refers to green.
21:06
Adding the term 色 differentiates the colors.
