broccoli forestSUDDENLY REALIZED If you take away some lines and round the corner a bit: it perfectly looks like katakana ア and still is superimposed J and P! Or could be like this, I guess more clearly recognizable as JP. (Sorry for unprofessional collaging, I know it.)

Unlike English speakers, Japanese speakers don't have agreed concept of "word" in their language. This is what makes the question difficult. — broccoli forest 24 hours ago

I think it's different in English, though, since English is written with spaces, so at an intuitive level someone without much language education can equate "word" with "orthographic word".
 
a word is a lexical unit that serves the role of a noun, an adjective, a pronoun, an adverb etc

You can always use terms other than word if you want to be precise, like lexical item for example.
