What does 掛けて mean here? Does it mean "attach"? Why can't I use 付けて instead?
What is the difference in using 辛口 and 塩辛い? Both means salty
Is it just me or the "J" in japanese sounds different depending if it is at the beginning of a word or in the middle of a word?

For me in 丈夫 the J sounds a lot like the J in english, like in the name John
and the one in 大丈夫 sounds a lot like the J in romance languages like Italian, French, Portuguese, etc.
I agree. I pronounce "jo" in 「丈夫」 as pushing/packing air into the throat i.e it is similar to John in English. On the other hand, I pronounce "jo" in 「大丈夫」 as pushing air out from the middle of the mouth because the tongue is in the middle after pronouncing "dai": 「大」i.e. It is similar to "Je suis" : 「私は」 in French and similar to "Joia" : 「宝石」 in Portuguese.
@kimiTanaka exactly how I feel about it. But it's hard to convey the idea unless the person I am talking to knows a language that has this different "J" like in French/Portuguese... 教えてくれてありがとうございます。^^
Maybe even Japanese people are not aware of that difference and just use it instinctively... I realize now that all my pitch accent mistakes in Japanese come from the pitch accent patterns in portuguese, that up until know I used instinctively but never really reasoned about. Like the most common two mora pattern in portuguese is "High-low" while in Japanese is "Low-high"
