@mınxomaτ Just my two cents: A 30 second intro can be annoying to wait through, especially for the new listeners you'd want to draw in who happened to click the link but click away because nothing is really happening and they don't know how long the intro will last.
I'm thinking in the context of videos but I think it still applies. I'd say 5s or less intro or none at all. (But no need to listen to me since I'm not necessarily a part of this :P)
Sorry for horning in but I'd suggest another thing: Do a mock podcast in chat only first. Make a new chatroom and have all the people and have them chat exactly as if they were speaking. That would give people a good idea of the format/pace/topics in a setting they will be comfortable in.
And from experience in tracking and mixing podcast-type content and some TV stuff, I already have a plan on how to do that. Don't worry, we won't rush it.
I actually was on a radio show (as a teaser for my last public appearance this year, which was on TV) a few weeks ago. We ended up recording the thing in my apartment because the host didn't bring any gear apart from a smartphone ...
@AlexA. I do a tour every year presenting a live hacking session (CeBit, IFA, and some private conferences). For my last "tour date" I wanted to host my own conference. So the company and a few others sponsored that event, and TV wanted to be there.
@mınxomaτ So, you are a CEO of a tech company, you were on TV too, and you're here talking to random strangers. Makes sense. Not saying you're a liar, not at all, just wondering why a CEO of such a company would even care about normal people like us?
The intro is not a monolithic sample. The soundcloud posts are mixdowns of all soundblocks in full length. These soundblocks are going to be mixed with the introduction of topics and people each week. So it's constantly changing.
Keep in mind that this is not exclusively about PPCG, but rather programming related topics in general. It isn't clear yet who will be in the cast at all, since there are more people interested than the maximum number of people we estimate.
Small tests with a few people to determine the chemistry between them will start next week.
@DrMcMoylex Not from others, I will send my ideas to everyone in a few days. Just write to the mail thing if you have one.
@noɥʇʎPʎzɐɹC Nope. I just want to keep off topic noise out of this room. This includes discussion of my job. Please, both of you, take the repeated kickmute by multiple users as a warning.
