@DoubleAA pidyon petter chamor is this Wednesday and I plan to be there. I don't know if there will be Q&A opportunities, but if so and there's anything you want me to try to find out, let me know.

@MonicaCellio Re: this answer of yours, I recall that at my college graduation, I paid attention to what the Christian minister who delivered the invocation said, to determine what my attitude should be to it. She never said "Jesus," I expect out of intended ecumenicism, but there was a part where she identified God as "God who this, God who that," etc. for various values of this and that. When she got to "God who suffered," ...
... I was even more certain I wasn't going to respond "Amen."

@IsaacMoses ouch. And that's with (presumably) a prepared speech. Sounds like she thought the problem was just naming the guy. Nope -- that's just the start...

@MonicaCellio There are any number of places her intent could have been. The bottom line is that my expectation of any Christian clergyperson's prayer being compatible with my faith is low. It's also why I didn't mind at all when my alma mater eventually dropped the religious invocation from the graduation. I'd've been quite happy to not have attended a Christian service my time around, thank you very much.
IY"H by government meetings at all levels in the US, some day.

@IsaacMoses amein! Why people think it's ok, even good, for graduations, legislative sessions, and other secular events to open with with a prayer, as if you can make a prayer that's acceptable to everybody in attendance, eludes me. Or rather, any motive other than promoting the dominant religion eludes me.
I can think that individual clergy people are nice people, even careful and considerate nice people, and still not want to be included in their prayer. I don't want any non-Jew to pray on my behalf or include me in his prayer.

All these new users ... I wonder if someone put out a stack of leftover DoA-MY copies in some shul this R"H.

I received a compliment on the book yesterday, but from someone who's already a user. :-) (I encouraged the person to leave feedback on our meta post for such, instead of only conveying it privately.)
