Q: How to open two "Computer" windows on windows 7?

flawrThis is a simple thing that has been bothering me for a while now. When you try to open a second "Computer" window (the place where you can see all your hard drives, cd drives, memory devices e.t.c) via start menue, you just get redirected to the one that is already open. Is there a way to prev...

Q: How am I able to stand up and walk down the aisle of a flying passenger jet?

user2800708The energy of a moving object is $E = mv^2\;.$ That is it increases with velocity squared. I walk at say 3 miles per hour, or lets round that down to 1 meter per second for a slow walk. I weigh less than $100~\mathrm{kg}\;,$ but lets just round that up to $100~\mathrm{ kg}$ for convenience (it i...

Q: What do you say when you want to join a line (queue )

user1425Do you say: Who is the last in the line? As far as I remember I have seen some objections to this phrase on the part of native speakers of English. I don't remember what exactly they didn't like about it but they didn't like something.

Q: Why is the power consumption of electrical lamps specified in kWh/1000h?

Lior KoganThis is the box of a LED spot I just bought. I'm wondering why the power consumption is measured in kWh/1000h and not simply in Watts. Edit: The labeling standard can be found here. (Guide for the application of the commision regulation (EU) No. 874/2012 with regard to energy labelling of ele...

Q: Should a reference letter for a student always be positive?

Q: How can someone orientate oneself without a compass in an environment without sun, stars or remarkable landscape features?

KikiA character of my story is in the following situation: He is in the middle of a forest and has lost his way out. He wants to be sure to keep straight on and not to move in a circle. He has no compass, there is no sun and no stars, just diffuse light. A second person is with him, they have no spec...

Q: Where can A/C condenser be located other than in front of radiator?

ClayHoon1953 F-100 w/ 428 Cobra Jet FE motor. I want to spare my grill and avoid putting the condenser in front of the radiator. Plus, it's already a beast to cool in hot weather, and I live in hell. (It's hot here.) Any other locations for the condenser that you can suggest? Be creative! I'm open to an...

Q: View two text files at the same time

user1406177I have two text files. Each line represents a line in one language. I need to check if the alignment always fits. Therefore I need a program that displays both text files at the same time with line numbers. I tried diffuse, but that tries to align the files - if by accident two lines are equal, ...

Q: RTS game unit structure

Daniel HolstI want a way to make a lot of different units without having to program stuff like moveTo and Attack actions more than once The way I see it, there are 2 ways I can do this. Q: When to use const void*?

MoneyBallI have this very simple test function that I'm using to figure out what's going on with const qualifier. int test(const int* dummy) { *dummy = 1; return 0; } This one throws me an error with GCC 4.8.3. Yet this one compiles: int test(const int* dummy) { *(char*)dummy = 1; return 0...

Q: Asynchronous society

Q: Why did Obi-Wan hand-off his lightsaber to Anakin in the fight against Count Dooku?

MaxDThis has always bothered me. I'm talking about their encounter on Geonosis in Attack of the Clones. The whole scene can be seen here with the saber-hand-off in question at 1:35. After Obi-Wan is injured, he hands-off his lightsaber to Anakin who continues to fight Dooku with two sabers at once (...

Q: Could teaching at community college for a few years harm my career?

SAHIf one aspired to a traditional, research-based academic career in a major university, would teaching for a few years at a community college (say, after the Master's) be damaging to one's CV? I'm worried that it would create a record of affiliation with a low-ranked university that would make peo...

@IsaacMoses Who let Yossele the Golem loose in here?

12:45 AM
@HodofHod technically, @msh210 did. I just misfabricated it. He, @MonicaCellio, and @DoubleAA have the power to deactivate it.

12:57 AM
@IsaacMoses I was thinking of moving it to its own room until it's been trained, but am on mobile at the moment.

1:41 AM

^^^ Feed is now set up there (or at least I think so). I converted the feed in this room into a ticker instead of just removing it entirely; first off, that'll serve as a reminder, and second, it looks like I'd have to delete it (no "disable"). @IsaacMoses

4 hours later…
5:14 AM
@MonicaCellio thanks

5:37 AM
^^^ too many bytes, so need to revise somehow. Anyway, presented here for design critique.
This is to be a community promotion ad

@IsaacMoses It's quite blurry and hard to tell what they are at that scale. I don't know how much it'll help, but maybe if each image were cropped a bit more they could be larger.

4 hours later…
12:52 PM
@Scimonster maybe it's just too many photographic subjects for 40KB

4 hours later…
4:39 PM
@IsaacMoses Forget filesize - it's the physical size that's too small.
It might be better to do one more like the previous - just the books on a table.
Then, maybe we can switch it out seasonally and use each of those images separately.
But the hagaddah should really have matzah around it.

@Scimonster You can't make the picture physically bigger without increasing the filesize or making it blurrier

@Daniel I'm saying even without considering the filesize, it can't look good in our space confinements.

@Scimonster ah got it

I don't currently have a sufficient answer score in the tag to suggest tag synonyms, but may I informally suggest that somebody else formally suggest as a synonym?
@MonicaCellio After some time of observation, it no longer seems to me like he is trying to play by our rules

6:53 PM
@Daniel Right now there is birkas-hamazon, bircat-hamazon, birchas-hamazon, and bircas-hamazon
I've now suggested yours.

1 hour later…
8:11 PM
@Daniel sadly, I must concur. I had higher hopes. I don't think it was wrong to proceed as I did, but we have more data now. Oh well.

@Daniel I noticed that a whole wave of comments were deleted today (by msh?) which (1) indeed were getting us a bit off track and (2) were a great learning for me as to what is considered to go too far in the comments. I have personally given up on him :->
