Q: What kavanah should you have during *Atah Kadosh*?

Ani YodeaThe third blessing of the amidah, Atah Kadosh, seems mysterious to me: You are holy and your name is holy, and the holy ones bless you all day. Blessed are you Hashem, the Holy God. Is there any particular kavanah that one one should be having while reciting this blessing? We know that Go...

@msh210 One of the most moving parts of the prayers (for me) is the juxtaposition on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kipur (and to a lesser extent on other yamim tovim) "You are holy; your name is awesome; there is no God but you.… Blessed are you, holy king. You chose us from among all nations; you loved us; you desired us; you raised us above all tongues; you sanctified us with your commands; you, our king, brought us close to your service; you proclaimed your great, holy name upon us."
(Much more moving than certain other parts of the t'fila.)

@msh210 Nice.
@msh210 To that point, the literature on our expanded duty of coronation on Rosh Hashana could inform this question about "Ata Kadosh" every day.

@IsaacMoses Perhaps so, though the weekday version doesn't mention malchus. But I don't have any such literature at hand.
... Except online.
Er, oops: that's not true. The weekday version does mention malchus (in nusach S'farad, at least, and IINM in the chazaras hashatz version in nusach Ashk'naz).

@msh210 Quite pointedly, in that we emphatically insert "Melech" during that time of year and then remove it after. The contrast could prove instructive, too.

@TRiG ¡hola!

@msh210 Heh. I've had this tab open all afternoon, and someone talks to me just before I leave.
CoderDojo in a few minutes. Best be off.

@TRiG bye

@DoubleAA (or anyone else), I want to understand how trop works -- so I know things like this. I am woefully deficient in that area. Should I read טעמי המקרא by R' Breuer? Wickes's treatises? Something else? [continued]
[contiinued] I seek your recommendation(s) (and why you recommend them), please. Please note that I want books that don't differ from a traditional Jewish understanding of things. (Of course, being written by a Christian does not mean that it will differ from a traditional Jewish understanding.)
(I'm posting this here rather than on MY because I don't know how to compose a Q that I deem an appropriate sort of Q for SE.)
