I voted off-topic Hebrew because there is very little Judaism context in the question -- as it stands it's just a translation question. editing the question to give it a little bit of context would add greatly to its value. — Shokhet 17 secs ago

You say you encountered these words while reading the gemara onthat page. But those words are not on that page. I suspect there is some mistake. Hence I have put this on hold. Please clarify what words you don't understand, where encountered them, why you want them explained, what you have done to try and solve the issue, etc. by editing your question — Double AA ♦ 1 min ago

@DoubleAA Fair enough, plus one on the comment ;-)

@msh210 @MonicaCellio @Scimonster @majnemɪzdæn Someone answered that "Lazarus" comes from the variant form "לעזר" of "אלעזר".

@MonicaCellio (Just catching up here.) I agree. Once I finish reading chat, if no one else has weighed in, I'll b'li neder reopen it. That may not be for hours, though.
@DoubleAA @TRiG Well, it's hard to parse, because of the singular "is". :-P
@IsaacMoses Just a thought. (cc @Shokhet) Maybe it was because no pharmacist was around, and the customer misunderstood it as being because of blue laws? An open pharmacy can't dispense without a pharmacist there AFAIK (IANAL).

2:00 PM
@msh210 thanks for reporting back! I don't think I've ever seen that Hebrew variant.

2:16 PM
@msh210 Yeah. I spotted that too late to edit.

Q: What happened to 'too localized'?

ScimonsterDoes the 'too localized' close reason still exist? I recently went to vote to close a question as too localized, but didn't see it.

Q: Dreams of conversion to Islam

narniaWhat if a Jew has frequent (almost daily) dreams about Islamic prophet Muhammad reading from Torah , Quran and reforming people's lives, and although nothing in the dream pushes for conversion to Islam, but I feel the dream motivates for it. So are such frequent dreams indicators of divine messa...

^^^ "Help me interpret my dreams." This might qualify as the most "Too Localized" a question can get.
^^^ One more vote, and an ad for Sefaria goes live.

@IsaacMoses It's not going to be me.
@IsaacMoses So what close reason should be used? I feel RfP doesn't quite cut it.

@Scimonster Close enough, IMO.

@MonicaCellio It's quite common in the Yerushalmi.

4:53 PM
@IsaacMoses Done.
@Scimonster @IsaacMoses Done.

@msh210 Thankses

@Scimonster Was anyone wondering what 021 badges (032 now, actually) meant?

5:11 PM
^^^^ needs one more vote also -- I like it. I've already voted, though.

@Shokhet me, too

@IsaacMoses I think it was advertised at one point -- did someone remove their vote?
(wouldn't have been a previous year; I've only been here 6 months)

@Shokhet Dunno.

@Shokhet or maybe a later-deleted user voted for it? I think I've seen that one live, too (this year). And I've already voted, so I'm no help here.

The Rabbis taught us that one will dream at night about what they think during the day. Narnia, stop thinkink about all this islam stuff, and you won't dream about it. — user6591 2 hours ago

@Scimonster I was.
@Scimonster @IsaacMoses I don't know the algorithm used to determine what shows as the close reason when different people choose different reasons. In this case, I thought it would show five closers but only some of those as closer-as-duplicate (since not everyone chose that reason). It doesn't, though.

@msh210 No biggie AFAIC

@IsaacMoses I don't like that it attributes to someone an action he didn't take. And without a way to click through and see the details (that he didn't take it), in fact.

@msh210 I agree. Just saying that in this case, on my own behalf, I don't mind.

I don't even know if I'm allowed to divulge who voted-to-close with what closure reason. If I knew the algorithm, I'd know whether the vote included inherently the possibility that it'd become public. In that case, I wouldn't mind divulging it. But I don't know the algorithm.

I think I just gave the Sefaria ad its first clickthrough

7:35 PM
@msh210 In the end i voted as RfP.

@Scimonster I know.

@msh210 If it's octal, 021 could be 17 badges. But in actuality, it's 0 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze. (now 0 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze)

@Scimonster Ah. That'll be confusing once you hit 10 of any of them.
... or 16, if you use hex.
... or 36, if you use base 36.

@msh210 I don't think it's possible to get 10 badges of one type from a single post.

@msh210 Frequently, when I vtc, the post fits into more than one close reason, so I really don't mind being ascribed to the one I didn't pick. In this case, I wasn't aware of the dupe, but might have voted for it had I been.

7:37 PM
@Scimonster Do you use different notation for badges form a post then for badges in general? That's confusing too. :-)

@msh210 I think this deserves a Meta post to hash out the best possible system.

@IsaacMoses Right, same here. (Your first clause.)

@msh210 Nope. I just felt like writing it like that. :P

@IsaacMoses :-)

Q: Distinguish close votes by reason

Mark ElliotEven though a question may be closed by receiving 5 close votes, the votes do not necessarily need to agree. I think this is a good behavior, but recently I voted to close a question for being an exact duplicate (which it was) and found the question was closed as "not a real question". This is ...

7:40 PM
@IsaacMoses I propose using <FONT COLOR="#FFD700">0</FONT><FONT COLOR="#C0C0C0">2</FONT><FONT COLOR="#CD7F32">1</FONT>

@msh210 I propose not using presentational HTML

@Scimonster 'Twas a joke.

@msh210 TAKE IT TO META SO THE COMMUNITY CAN DELIBERATE IN THE APPROPRIATE FORMAT!

Q: Show all voted close types when a question is closed

Ólafur WaageCurrently it shows like this (a recent example) closed as "not programming related" by RSolberg, Tim J, Rob Kennedy, Paul Alexander, Michael Petrotta an hour ago How about it would show like this. closed as "not programming related" by RSolberg, Tim J and as "not a real question" by Rob...

A: Is it really insecure to build HTML strings in Javascript?

ScimonsterIf this.au is somehow modified, it might contain something like this: "><script src="http://example.com/evilScript.js"></script><span class=" That'll mess up your HTML and inject a script: <a class="quiz-au" data-src=""><script src="http://example.com/evilScript.js"></script><span class=""><s...

@IsaacMoses Which is why it quickly needs several stars. ;)
