I don't want to add to this question unless I'm sure I'm correct. Is it safe to assume that the Nekudah Niflaah holds for Treifah as well?

Q: Why does the RaMBa"M allow one to derive benefit from cooked mixtures of milk and meat of improperly slaughtered animals?

Seth JAs noted in this other question and its comments and answers, the RaMBa"M allows one to derive benefit from the cooked mixture of milk and meat of an animal of a Kosher species that was not slaughtered according to Halachah, even though if it had been slaughtered properly, not only would it be pr...

@MoriDoweedhYaAgob You'll have to search for it. I have no idea.
Wa'Aleichem Shalom.

@MoriDoweedhYaAgob If you're going to be so pedantic as to use numbers to specify phonemes that most folks don't differentiate, can you please please please use vowels, too?
3leicham really isn't pronounceable without a patach
...sorry, it's getting to me

8:10 PM
@CharlesKoppelman 3aleicham

someone should develop a script to convert all of @Mor's illegible words to something readable: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/9434/…

@Menachem in #reddit-judaism on freenode they got my words flipped everytime i use hH or sS

Couldn't we all just agree that a) different people have different preferences in transliteration, b) @MoriDoweedhYaAgob considers his convention to be most correct, c) many other people here consider it much less readable than more common alternatives, d) as a consequence, many people here may have trouble reading MDY's messages and may choose to ignore them - and move on? It seems to me that 50% of the recent traffic in this room has been treading over these points ad sepultum.

@IsaacMoses its safe to say that the traffic here is the same traffic that has always been here. same people and all

@Menachem On it. ;)

@HodofHod :(

@SethJ, if, indeed, this is the source for the general rule of עשה דוחה לא תעשה, then a source saying that could be the foundation of a good answer. I'm hoping, though, for something along the lines of "God gave us korbanot with motivation X and Shabbat with motivation Y. By having us set aside Y in the presence of X, He's teaching us that Z." Here's a write-up of this form (in the opposite direction). — Isaac Moses 27 mins ago
@IsaacMoses, have you tried/considered מורה נבוכים?

@SethJ Haven't. Not a source I've ever delved into.

@IsaacMoses Not a primary source whose original text I've ever delved into either, but I've read bits and pieces in translation. Might be worth a look.

@MoriDoweedhYaAgob Why? You'd be able to type the way you're comfortable, and everyone else would be able to understand it more easily. Win-win, no?

9:01 PM
@SethJ I wouldn't know where therein to start looking.

@IsaacMoses morah navuchim :) do it

@MoriDoweedhYaAgob got any advice?
32 secs ago, by Isaac Moses
