@msh210 The "reuse" links come active when there isn't an active system message. You can experiment with this right now by briefly removing the active message, if you want, and re-instating it through reuse.

Any idea where all these new users are coming from? (I wish I had a hit tracker.)

None.

Did you test the system message in various browsers? It works in Firefox (Mac and Windows), but I think according to the HTML spec the <a> tag ends when the next block-level tag (<h3>in this case) starts, which would cause there to be no link at all.
@msh210 I've edited it to spec in case you hadn't tested it. By all means put it back the way it was if appropriate.

And now good night. It is time to sleep. (So we will sleep with our pet Zeep.)

@msh210 Thanks for catching my sloppiness.
@msh210 If there are no more contestants by near the deadline, feel free (if you still want) to enter yourself, and to edit the rules to say that the judges are the mods minus you. In that case, I'll do the tallies, and you'll just stay out of judging. You can be eligible for the prize in that case, since the main point of this prize is to let people say "help me win a".

I think a question of mine has already been entered.
It might require a bigger prize to get people into it though.
Maybe a Jewish store would be willing to sponsor a significant prize if they got some advertising out of it.
(E.g a $180 certificate. )

@ArielK Yes, this is a pilot run with a nominal prize. You can enter your own question or someone else's - the competition is over the promotion of the questions, not the questions themselves.
@ArielK That's an interesting idea. The default would be to ask SE for the money
... but we'll see what makes sense after we run this pilot and discuss it afterward
@ArielK But, given that it costs nothing to enter, why not go for it? You'd like to help get this site to the next level of readership, wouldn't you?

Q: How to get more High-Quality Questions for this Site?

Ariel KThis site answers practically all questions, but doesn't get so many visitors or questions per day. (See stats here.) How can we get more high-quality questions?

Ok, I'll pick something

@ArielK Woohoo!

3:46 PM
@msh210, We've got a mezuman, which I think is sufficient to make this interesting without having to change the rules about mod participation.

@IsaacMoses Glad to see there are.
Jinx.

@msh210 I like the array of questions chosen so far.

@IsaacMoses Pretty good.
@IsaacMoses According to the rules, all entries must be in by 1700Z, even if I only tally them later. Am I misreading something? If not, I'll discount any late entries (as unfair to the on-time entrants).

4:04 PM
@msh210 I think that's how I'd interpret the rules as written.
... and I think that's the fairest way to proceed. The deadline thus applies equally to every potential contestant, and the contest start applies (roughly) equally to all contestants.

5:02 PM
@msh210 I closed the question to new contestants; I'll leave it to you to do the official tally, as agreed.

5:14 PM
@IsaacMoses Done.

@msh210 Thanks. And they're off!

5:30 PM
<homer>Mmmm.. tomatoes....</homer>

@msh210 :)
@msh210 The "ב" makes the task a great deal easier

5:48 PM
@IsaacMoses Ja.
