@heather did you look through the already asked questions? Yours seem close duplicates of some of them.

Thanks for the answers @rob.

Tip: To get the current number of cast votes, see how many constituent badges have been awarded, and subtract 255 votes from previous elections...Update Oct 10th, 2016: Oh, that info is also available on the election page.

This year the voting is already twice the other elections combined.

@Qmechanic Neat trick. And you can even see who voted!
11:21
@Danu Even better -- I was the first to vote and you were the second ;)
@tpg2114 But I only picked my first vote quickly---I picked you second only yesterday :)
@Danu Ah --- well, thanks for your support!
I initially picked all 3, but I did adjust the order of 2nd and 3rd yesterday
Should be interesting -- I think the group is genuinely good and anybody in it would be do a great job. I'm not really worried about the outcome, I think we'll be in good hands no matter what
Yeah, I agree. Else I would've nominated, too.
There's a few people I was surprised didn't nominate
@tpg2114 Yeah, who? Daniel Sank?
11:32
@Danu Yeah, and Emilio
I wouldn't have been surprised if JohnRennie did, although with the amount of rep he has, he pretty much has access to most of the tools anyway

@tpg2114 he's consistently said in the past that he doesn't want to be a moderator (if I remember correctly)

6 more days of the election. I hate the waiting game
@DavidZ I seem to recall that as well. But I thought maybe he would have been more inclined since he's taken on more duties like chat room maintenance
@Jim It would be interesting if we could see the votes with time. I wonder at what point it saturates and few changes/new votes happen
Jim
Jim
I suppose it's a moot point now that nominations are over
@tpg2114 Yes, I'd love it if mods and/or candidates could see who was leading in the election
I think that's not a great idea
I feel like that might lead to some weird problems in the voting. I'd be fine just seeing the aggregate totals after the fact
But see how it changes with time. Like, did the chat session result in more voting or changed voting?
The election period is 7 days, but was the election decided by the 3rd?
It would also be cool if they tracked how many users visited the election page but did not vote
Jim
Jim
@tpg2114 That would be worth seeing, I'd guess that the election is already decided by now
16:02
@Jim I suspect the same. I wonder if the data explorer can report back badges awarded and at what time
We can pull the award time data for the constituent badge, filtered for this year so we only get this election
Plot the histogram in, I don't know, 6 hour bins
Jim
Jim
But that doesn't tell us when it was decided. For all we know, the margins could be decided early on and then a uniform layer of votes could be applied to everyone in the following days
Sure, it doesn't answer all of the questions
Jim
Jim
that said, it's the best we have
But I would also suspect that the majority of users vote once and forget about it
So presumably, once the CDF of the votes > 0.5 or something, we could assume the election is decided
Or I guess CDF > highest winning vote percent... I don't know, there's gotta be a decent threshold based on the preferential voting system algorithm
16:18
It's a bit wonky for our site for some reason. It will take some playing with/refining
And the 2016 data hasn't been dumped yet
But for example, SO in 2014 has this:
16:36
If somebody wants to pick up the torch and figure out how to normalize it so it is a proper CDF, that would be cool
But I've maxed out my goofing off time for the moment
