They default to unchecked okay?
@KitFox do you mean you can't get them to validate when they change, or you can't keep them checked?
onCheckboxChanged()
They validate when I try to submit the form, but they don't update if I check the box.
@cornbreadninja I'm using jQuery for this one.
are they init as checkable?
oh
So I can't submit without having the boxes checked, but when I check the box, it doesn't remove the error formatting.
So the validation is right.

OIC
I'm just doing the other part wrong.
I've tried blur, click, and change.
change should be the right one
It's in a span element. Anything special about that?
are you attaching to the change on the span or on the box?
just to make sure
It's on the span. It finds the box inside the span element.
At least, I think that's what it is doing.
16:26
the change event on the surrounding <span> will never fire
OK, well, that would be a problem then.
you need to attach to the change event on the checkbox itself
I'm looking...
(same goes for all control types. change events do not bubble up through the dom -- they're only fired on the element that originated them)
OK, I see. I have an asp:Checkbox, but I don't need that to be an asp control anymore.
It renders as an input inside a span.
I can just change that to an input, right?
type="checkbox"?
16:28
correct
OK, let me see if I hooked that up right.
scowls
Now I'm not getting any error formatting.
It's not fair. This is the last thing I have to fix before we do the next round of testing.
OK, so let's say I wanted to apply css to a particular element.
.error input
{
style here;
}
Is that right?

Hello
At least you have got me...
Do you know CSS?
A little bit
What seems to be the problem?
So do you know if am I doing my cascade wrong, or what?
I have an error class. I want it to apply additional style if there is an input element.
9 mins ago, by KitFox
.error input
{
style here;
}
But that's not working, so I've got something mixed up.
I think the css is fine...
the .error indicates that it's a class and will need to be added manually
How do you use it in your HTML?
17:15
@Mr.Shiny Thanks. I can't figure why this isn't applying my style.
Have I got it wrong?
My first suggestion is to leave your html/css alone, since that seemed to be working, and instead post your code where you attach your onchange handler
Um, no, switching to the html checkbox screwed up the formatting.
yeah, hence why I'd leave it as it was
Well, I should say, it can't apply the border, because there isn't one.
@kit what browser are you using? If it's chrome, FF or ie9 you can inspect the dom before and after your change handler fires.

Hey look! You're a room owner. Is that new?
I created this room for you
hence the lolcat title
But...I thought your italics was new. Maybe I just lack observation skills.
Hm, I never noticed those. Guess I don't spend much time here.
