Q: Can't write on external Storage device

linuxNewbieI got a WD Elements 2tb external hdd. I formated it with gparted to ext4. But I can't write data on it because of missing rights. I tried it with giving the rights with chmod and also with make the mount point owned by my user with chown. I did this: chmod 777 -R /run/media/username/mountpoint ...

Can you post the output of mount, and an ls -l of the mount-point (and its parent dirs), for the mount point itself before and after mounting?

Try mounting to a more conventional spot, then, manually. E.g. /media/wd ...also, is xifizurk you? :)

I'm stumped. Both by the fact that (given the perms) you can't write to the device, and also that "mount" doesn't give any output. What distro are you using, just for completeness sake?

Looks like it, so it's not a problem with the mount-options
