No fancy hats this year, it seems (meta.stackexchange.com/questions/392846/…)
@Skillmon Yay
06:37
@UlrikeFischer OK, I see what's happening

2 hours later…
08:32
@UlrikeFischer The issue is that we currently apply either the engine-specific options or the general check options. I can change, but that would mean if anyone is using e.g. context they might get breakages until they update their config
@UlrikeFischer You happy for me to make the change?
@JosephWright Why would those things break context?
@mickep At present, as ConTeXt needs special options, it suppresses the generic ones - I'm not 100% sure without testing, but I think adding the two together might not go down so well
08:47
@JosephWright I'm away for the day, but yes change it. Currently all latex checks break. (Probably some docu how to change options would be good. Currently it is a bit confusing what extends options and what overwrites defaults. )
@JosephWright OK, from the link I could not see why that had to do with ConTeXt. But of course not good if something gets broken.
@UlrikeFischer I'll sort it then
@mickep Looks like it might be OK, but I was not sure
@JosephWright perhaps the specialformats table could have an explicit key to add options
@JosephWright Great!
Now @egreg enters to cry about the dfrac in the tabular.
:P
@UlrikeFischer I think probably the two should be orthogonal: the general check options are supposed to apply to all cases, the engine-specific ones should really add not replace those. I'll adjust the code then fix the docs
@mickep ?
@UlrikeFischer Keeps me away from templates ;)

Q: Vertical spacing of equation inside table

eigenvalueConsider the table generated by the following code: \usepackage{diagbox, multirow, caption, tabularx} \begin{document} \begin{table}[] {\renewcommand{\arraystretch}{2} \begin{tabular}{ccc} \hline & text & text \\ \hline text & $\dfrac 1x$ & $\dfrac 1x$ \\ \h...

@mickep Slashed form all the way!
@egreg Indeed.
@JosephWright Oh, somebody is enforcing correct syntax. :)
In other news: anyone use Wooclap?
@mickep It was borderline unreadable before
@JosephWright Yes, now it is only the output that hurts...
09:06
@JosephWright you can't do anything anyway if the github tests fail ;-) it prevented me from making a pr for the properties.
09:21
@JosephWright first time hearing it :)

Note the "both buttocks" part
09:37
@PauloCereda Haha, very nice! Maybe even I can play that short part.
10:13
Reasing the discussion about +v on github. Are there any support for an environment version of this? I use something similar in my LaTeX book, but it writes to temp file and then does two inputs (one verbatim one inside a minipage). Which is a bit slow to compile, so in the end having something that can run without needing to write to disk would be nice. The example that @Skillmon mentioned from pxpic is very nice.
10:30
@daleif take a look at my expkv-documentation, it should have what you're looking for, and you can most likely tweak it to your needs. If not, reach out to me.
@daleif This file here contains the relevant code that I use: gitlab.com/islandoftex/texmf/expkv-bundle/-/blob/master/Doc/… (and someday I might manage releasing a standalone package for this)
@daleif The plan is for me to come up with an environment version, something akin to filecontents
@JosephWright you could as well just use my enverb code (maybe with a few adjustments)
@Skillmon I'll take a look
@JosephWright you might as well discard it :) But I like the handling of spaces and tabs... :P
11:02
@JosephWright but where we can access the code immediately and display it with the same line breaks?
@daleif you mean execute and output in a listing? That's what enverb does. Take a look at how it's used in expkv-bundle.pdf, if you don't like the looks, change the definition of \enverb@output (everything after the \par in line 274 is the output).
11:18
@daleif I meant filecontents-like in the sense of grabbing \begin{...} to \end{...}, not that it will write a file
@JosephWright right
@Skillmon I'll save those for later
11:42
@Skillmon ooh a secret Matrix message
Why is it always the funny things that you are not allowed to do? A bit like how forbidden expl3 commands end with the smiley :D
@Gaussler (pst: I'm using them sometimes)
@Skillmon Your mom would be very disappointed
@PauloCereda ooh, then I'll need to get to my laptop (only possible later this evening), my mobile won't read Matrix for some reason (the reason being my brain having forgot the credentials)
@Gaussler but, but, I'm writing kernel code with them... (and if I don't I pay attention to use them only with private names)
@Skillmon Still... ;-)
11:56
@Gaussler not my fault that there is no user level interface to the low level behaviour of \scantokens... \tl_rescan:nn doesn't cut it for every use case.
@Gaussler and I'm pretty sure that the kernel team is fine with me using :D in kernel-PRs if they merge them.
(uuuh: One Piece thingy, it's always those with the D.)
@Skillmon Probably. What happens in the kernel stays in the kernel, I guess :D
@JosephWright I'm proud of you :-)

1 hour later…
13:18
@Skillmon oopsie :)
13:42
@samcarter super ultra hyper mega Matrix duck message :)
@PauloCereda Ducks are good as messages :)
Are there any tabularray users here? Do you know by chance if there is an equivalent to array's *{count}{colspec} syntax in tabularray (or maybe the appropriate term to look for in the docs, where I did not find something at the first glance)?
13:58
@TeXnician Are you looking for tex.stackexchange.com/a/625184/36296 ?
@samcarter Ah, probably. So it does work out of the box and just does not seem documented. Never rely on the documentation when you can experiment. Thanks :)

1 hour later…
15:04
@UlrikeFischer I've fixed and sent to CTAN
Hi @WillRobertson
@StefanKottwitz :)
@StefanKottwitz Want the code for the gallery?
15:21
@JosephWright ooh
Hi @WillRobertson
Hi @JosephWright
15:44
Hi @PauloCereda

Duck and tiger are an excellent combination

@PauloCereda :) ... but replace "snake" with "duck"
@PauloCereda Hello world duck
19:09
Hello everyone
The project site for pdftex is not there anymore: sarovar.org/projects/pdftex
Does anyone know if it moved to some other place?
@JosephWright Thanks. The bug tracker is gone? Was sarovar.org/tracker/…

3 hours later…
21:56
fosstodon.org/@[email protected]/… is right. Having one full texlive is morally wrong. Everybody knows that one needs at least 5 different years for a nice collection :)
22:52
@Skillmon thanks for the secret rabbit message, you got another secret duck message <3
