@Skillmon -- never said i didn't like the joke, just that i don't usually use that particular terminology, especially not in a written communication. (actually, i think it's hilarious, especially told in a genuine "strine" accent. i also happen to be fond of gadding about in a canoe, although indulging in activities that are likely to tip it over isn't a particularly good idea.)

@UlrikeFischer -- there are people working on this. ross moore is one (i think the direction he's taking will result in something like alt-text; i'm not sure how much effort it will require from an author, but suspect it's not negligible). i hear rumors around the math society about something that might have aspirations in that direction, but i can't get anyone to tell me anything definite about it. but it's a problem that really needs to be solved.

@DavidCarlisle :)
@DavidCarlisle I can only do the mailing list ...

@JosephWright you are an owner of the l3 gh as well:-)

@DavidCarlisle True, true

@PauloCereda dinner!

@DavidCarlisle oh no

@PauloCereda two in one:-)

@DavidCarlisle ooh

8:28 AM
@DavidCarlisle secret infiltration? Sounds like a plan from Paulo ;-)

Hi all, does anybody know what happened to TikZ graph drawing library? It seems that \usegdlibrary command cannot load the graph drawing libraries. I've tried several examples (for example this and all of them failed. TL 2018 on two different machines.

@DavidCarlisle thanks. I really appreciate your comments and answers :). You don't have ANY questions published... don't you have questions in your mind to ask to people? We say that "this question could be useful for other users" so if you don't ask how would we learn? 😸

@michal.h21 you could ask @UlrikeFischer
@manooooh I never found the ask a question button

8:44 AM
@DavidCarlisle ooh

@PauloCereda You got mail :)

@TeXnician ooh

@DavidCarlisle :)
so it is related to recent changes in Luaotfload?

@michal.h21 I haven't looked but I would guess that is the issue in the link @TorbjørnT. gives above, which has a workaround in the comments.

@DavidCarlisle yes, here is the bug report: sourceforge.net/p/pgf/bugs/493
but no reactions on the tracker :(

9:00 AM
@DavidCarlisle LOL

9:29 AM
@michal.h21 add a comment to the bug tracker. On the luaotfload side we can't do anything sensible.

@DavidCarlisle, @UlrikeFischer, @egreg See team list :)

@JosephWright ooh a secret list

@JosephWright excellent another person to take the blame!
@PauloCereda shh it's a secret

@JosephWright who is Urlike? ;-)

9:46 AM
@DavidCarlisle ooh like the new bot
Oh wait
It's another secret

@DavidCarlisle oh no

10:31 AM
@DavidCarlisle you've been summoned in the secret duck room. :)

5 hours later…
3:20 PM
@PauloCereda would you expect to see Ṕ in Portuguese?
is Ṕ a common letter in Brazilian Portuguese? (we were wondering if this should be defined by default, but don't recall this coming up before, and practically we can't pre-define every possible Unicode accent combination,so need to make a judgement on which letters to pre-define and which leave for the user to define if needed) — David Carlisle 59 secs ago

@DavidCarlisle No, it doesn't exist. It's often typed though, because the acute accent is right next to P in the Brazilian keyboard :)

@PhelypeOleinik Ah:-)

3:37 PM
@DavidCarlisle isn't my portuguese good? ;-)

@UlrikeFischer Quase tão bom quanto o meu!

@marmot "what I don't like: 1) not being able to read nor press the keys on the keyboard cause i'm a llama " (from tex.stackexchange.com/users/172351/s-lama) Seems like the usability of this site really bad for beings without humanoid hands.
@egreg Seems a likely source for this idea :)

3:59 PM
@DavidCarlisle This might possibly help:
@-moz-document domain("tex.stackexchange.com") {
a[href="/questions/ask"] { font-size: 800%; }
}

@samcarter Yes, I can see why a lama would complain. It's probably even harder for elephant, and I will be always impressed by the typing abilities of ducks. ;-)

@HaraldHanche-Olsen actually it would make no difference.

@marmot I've heard that elephants are very skilled with their trunks. Would be interesting how well they are suited for typing!

4:14 PM
@samcarter All I know is that so far I have not gotten an email from an elephant. This may suggest that it is very hard for them. But it might be that, as they are afraid of mice, they cannot use the mouse to click on the send button. ;-)

@samcarter @marmot ^^

@UlrikeFischer :) Now I understand the need for voice controlled devices!

@HaraldHanche-Olsen since the site redesign I'm using a userContent.css to get more sensible sidebars and other things, so while I was there I added div[aria-label="ask new question"]{ display:none;}

@samcarter Not sure if Alexa knows what Mooooh means. ;-)

@marmot Instead of mice they probably tried touch pads but they were a bit too heavy and they broke them :)
@marmot Can't Alexa use google translate? I heard from a very reliable source that google does perfect translations in very language, isn't this true @DavidCarlisle ?

4:19 PM
@DavidCarlisle Not bad that you managed to get a working css selector without finding the button first! But I suppose you looked for it in the HTML code rather than trying to find it in the rendered page.

@samcarter But why does @DavidCarlisle's translations have so many errors, then? Couldn't he just use google translate if this was true? ;-)

@marmot No errors, features!

@samcarter True, I completely forgot. ;-)

@marmot :) I'll be off now, have a mouse to draw (@CarLaTeX)

@samcarter Looking forward to meeting her/him ;-)

4:28 PM
@HaraldHanche-Olsen yes:-)

4:42 PM
@samcarter Yay!

Hi guys. Do you recommend latex for drawing triangles inscripted in circles? (With angles and vectors)

@santimirandarp you could do that(tikz, pstricks, ...) but impossible top say really, what do you want to with the generated image, what are the alternatives available?

user280247
@DavidCarlisle It is just to visualize the maths below...I really don't know if there is some other tool for that purpose...

user280247
But I'll see if there are some examples with tikz

@santimirandarp so you want to integrate it into a tex document anyway? if so tex seems a reasonable choice:-)

user280247
Yes, I'm sorry. Exactly. Thanks.

5:50 PM
The correct way to address people here is
"Dear chatters and ducks, respected marmots,
Do you recommend latex for drawing triangles inscripted in circles? (With angles and vectors)" ;-)
My answer would be: yes, I do recommend to use LaTeX for it since then the font in these figures matches the font of the text. Of course, you could use e.g. inkscape to draw these things, which would also allow you to use the same font.

user280247
@marmot :) haha thanks. I supposed it wasnt possible to draw vectors on inkscape...

user280247
BTW, hello mr @marmot

@santimirandarp Why not? (I never used it, though, because TikZ is intuitive enough to be able to draw things without this and the TeX code generated by inkscape is a bit funky.)

user280247
@marmot fine. I'll try...

@santimirandarp Perhaps the exampe on p. 118 of the pgfmanual is a good starting point.

5:59 PM
@marmot does pgf have a manual?

user280247
Nice

@DavidCarlisle Yes. Even though it is lacking ducks and marmots, it is actually great (except for the fact that one often does not know which libraries are needed).

@marmot that's so stupid about the manual!!!

@marmot I'm sure most people just learn by watching \tracingall log from some examples though.

@boycott.se-yo' I guess that it is easier to complain about this than to write a comparable manual. I am actually very happy with it. It has many explicit examples and is overall very well written. Is there room for improvement? Yes, but I'd rather not complain about the 1% that might be missing, but appreciate the 99% that are there.
@DavidCarlisle No, most people learn from questions: Why does this example from the manual not compile? and their answers. ;-)

6:11 PM
@marmot yep. It's the fact that the other 99% are perfect that makes me point out this very little glitch :)

@boycott.se-yo' Well, if I was the author who has written this I would probably feel differently. (Did you ever experience a user whom you provided with a really good answer, and the user would only point out an unimportant typo? I personally like those who say "Thank you" and correct the typo themselves better... ;-)

@marmot yeah, as I say, it's a minor thing and I feel it so :)

6:57 PM
@DavidCarlisle No definitely not.
@PhelypeOleinik it is?! :) I never mistyped it. :)

@PauloCereda Neither did I. I always tyep everythinh correcly :)

@PhelypeOleinik éxáçtĺý! :)

@PauloCereda D:
@PauloCereda Dis you use this: zalgotextgenerator.com ?

@PauloCereda nice mixture of Czech, Slovak and Portuguese :)

@boycott.se-yo' ooh
@PhelypeOleinik LOL actually I just typed everything with an acute accent. :)

7:02 PM
@PauloCereda note that lacute really exists in Slovak :)

@PauloCereda LOL :D

@CarLaTeX Which one do you like best?

7:50 PM
@samcarter What are the names of these cuties?

@marmot They don't have a name yet. I wanted to ask @CarLaTeX if she has a suggestion.

@samcarter The lowest one looks as if her name was Meera. ;-)

@marmot You know her from an extended family gathering of all rodents?
I discovered that tikzmice are genetically a mixture of koalas and coatis. I wonder if I should write a paper about tikzlings genetics :)

8:08 PM
@samcarter No, I suspect her to have stolen some of my cheese. A paper on the genetics of the tikzlings will be much easier with the corresponding library. ;-) Then it will be rather straightforward to figure out how much \draw and \fill genes each individual species has. ;-)

@marmot Evidence really does not look good for the mouse: the piece of cheese is about the same size as the one missing from your one.

@samcarter Yes, these guys cannot be trusted.

@All In case somebody did not yet see marmots nice answer to the cheese competition, here is the link:

A: Who cut the cheese?

marmotNeedless to say: marmots love cheese. (This is taken from here and done with a typesetting system that is often said to be only good for equations. The spurious black lines in the holes come from the conversion to an animated gif, and are not there on the pdf file that gets created when the follo...

@samcarter the family conference decided that second on the left is the best, but a version with the arms on the side would be neat - one could make animations where it graps some cheese. Also happily cats are busy with other tasks: vvvvv

8:37 PM
@UlrikeFischer I could make the rotation angle of the arms optional.
@UlrikeFischer :) They should give the cat some pilot googles!

10:06 PM
@JosephWright oh god. Do I get also a t-shirt? ;-)

@UlrikeFischer Ask FMi ;)

10:41 PM
@samcarter The first one
@samcarter TokZ = "topo" plus "TikZ"
@samcarter the first one in this row (the second one in general)

@CarLaTeX -- i like this name. (and i do remember the original of the first part of the name.)
