@yo' -- you have my condolences. the main complaint with ams papers is the loading of more packages than are needed or used, the full collection of definitions that an author has used for the last 25 years, and the redefining of one-letter (or other already defined) control sequences.

@naphaneal your comment seems strange, talking of "double standards" would imply that someone is making biased choices, but that isn't how voting works. Anyone can mark a question for deletion and anyone can vote against that.

@naphaneal also "this works for me" answers are sometimes the answer (perhaps the problem is an old distribution and confirming the document works on a current system is all the answer needed. Sometimes it's better left as a comment but if you want to include code, then an answer is easier.

@DavidCarlisle fair enough, but flagged answers clearly in violation of answering a question shouldn't be disputed, IMHO.

@naphaneal as I say anyone with more than a minimal rep can vote however they see fit. (I hadn't even seen the question until just now, so it wasn't me that voted either way) and (especially if that was the first answer it isn't clearly not an answer to the original question)

@naphaneal imho jfbu's answer was quite ok: It addresses the main point that hyperref is needed, it could be easily extended to address the problems of the link border. I quite often add such answers if I want to show a picture and so can't use a simple comment. I don't understand why it triggered such a discussion.

@UlrikeFischer because in my view, it was simply repeating the question without providing a valid anwser. and clearly I wasn't the only one. I just felt like pointing out, that just because someone has a high reputation, it shouldn't nbe a free ticket to point out the obvious in the answer section, that the QO did something in violation of platform rules.

@naphaneal as I say the answer didn't look that bad to me, but the idea of having rules about how people should vote is completely wrong, by design the site is supposed to scope with the occasional "odd" vote that's why it takes several votes to close questions or delete answers. democracy is supposed to get the right answer overall.

@naphaneal He didn't repeat the question. The main (and only point) is: use hyperref and while the question was a bit unclear before the edit I at least saw at that time directly that the op doesn't use it.
