I'm trying to make an env that has a different background than normal in this theme but still have the normal options for frame working if possible.

@UlrikeFischer hmm, that at least can pass on the fragile stuff. I'm throwing away giving the frame title as an arg to the env, as that is not a recommended syntax anyway. Now to see if my added background will also work

@daleif I would use a frame option to change the colour of the frame, then you could avoid all the pitfalls with custom environments.

@samcarter_xmas_is_coming hmm, that is interesting. I'm already using one of your older tricks to mess with \maketitle. Can we use a template like that as well? Currently I'm doing the background using a tikz image as that allows us more flexibility later on, like custom images in the bg, or that ball shading effect. It could be nice to have both.

@daleif yes, that sets the default. Alternatively, you could use the frame within a group etc.

@UlrikeFischer just avoided etex, I'd already got a simplified mathcolor so expl3.sty not loaded it just failed on ifcsname but all it had to do is \endinput
