@UlrikeFischer Yes, that didn't go well. ;-)

@marmot this time I agree with Joseph. The best thing for a user is to reproduce what he wants, everything else is distraction. When I wrote you "Long life to \mathrm{d}!!" I really should not have written it, since that generates a distraction for the user who does not realize it (even if it is true or not) (could have clarified that it was off-topic)

@marmot Congratulations for 100k!

@manooooh I have not written anything on how the d's are to be typeset. (But yes, I have used upright d's because I always use upright d's, and I am doing this because I think this should be done. Likewise, when I draw arrows in tikzpictures, I also use -latex or -stealth instead of ->, because I do think this looks better, and don't do it is a distraction.)
@JouleV Thanks! ;-)

@marmot You missed to show us 100,001 ;-)

@Kurt Yes, I must have been cycling then... ;-)

@marmot ... and 99,999 ;-)

@JouleV I was hibernating. ;-)

@marmot sorry went for hunting ;). But it may be a good idea to post a comment (one of us) explaining the reason why it was closed.

5:18 AM
@Raaja No worries. I do not have a clear opinion on this, I am just curious.

@marmot okies
@marmot aren't u participating in this: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/474841/fun-with-tikz-dogs I was expecting your answer though ;)

@Raaja No, I am not.... Have fun!

6:49 AM
Okay :/ @marmot

7:20 AM
@Skillmon Dear Skillmon, thank you so much for your kind help. I downloaded the complete iso file which was about 2 gigs, last night and mounted it to my driver. So I could install TL2018 offline without any hesitation. Now I have TL2018 on my system.
Also thanky you @AndréC, @CarLaTeX and @UlrikeFischer for your previous comments.

7:41 AM
@Raaja Henri Menke always leaves a comment explaining why he is asking for closure. This allows at least to dialogue with him in the comments and sometimes to change his mind.

@marmot welcome to the club, that used to give access to @PauloCereda's credit card but I fear we emptied that pot years ago.

7:59 AM
@AndréC Moving forward, that is going to be my idea as well ;)

8:10 AM
@EnthusiasticEngineer Good to hear. Keep in mind that the iso might not be up to date, but the same which was published as DVD 9 months ago (I don't know whether they update the DVD). That usually is not an issue, but if you need any recent update for something, you'll have to update your TL2018 using tlmgr.

@marmot The user who wasn't accepting answer simply didn't know he should have done it, I told him and now he have accepted also the old ones

8:34 AM
Hello @CarLaTeX!
Would you mind giving your favorite picture (if you only had those 2 options)?
Whatever you decide, thank you!

@Skillmon exactly... about 718 packages updated because they were outdated to april 2018... many tnx

8:59 AM
@manooooh Hallo!

9:26 AM
@marmot Well deserved congratulations!

9:40 AM
@JouleV The comma is misplaced in that one, so no great loss.

congrats @marmot

@GermanShepherd That's wonderful, it deserves to be archived!

12:53 PM
@GermanShepherd nice one. Is this generated code, or programmed by hand?

1:25 PM
I just downloaded and installed texstudio and texmaker and texniccenter after many years. I think I still prefer texworks!
So many people like ducks in this room. It's time for a chicken camp for those who prefer chickens!

@Jasper It's a very personal choice

@JosephWright Oh, initially I thought you were talking about the next message on chickens. =)

@Jasper Oh, that too ;)

2:18 PM
A long time ago I used makeindex to produce indexes. And nowadays, is there a better package? What do you recommend?

2:29 PM
I don't know anything other than makeindex. It is so standard that it even appears in the texworks default programs list.

@Sigur Do you need more than ASCII sorting? Personally, I have switched to imakeidx with xindy because it is quite flexible to set up different indexing needs and have more advanced sorting options.

@TeXnician, to be true, I'm satisfied with makeindex, except the fact that it is hard to translate the word Symbols used in the symbols sections. I am editing the ind file to translate it, but I have to do that every time I run makeindex.

@Sigur Have a look at section 5.7 of the imakeidx user guide (you can use the makeindex tool with the imakeidx package). It should be interesting for you :)

I wonder how indexes are made now in Microsoft Word.

2:46 PM
@TeXnician, I'll take a look. Thanks.
@TeXnician, oh, I found. symhead_positive is what I need. Thanks again.
I don't know the difference between symhead_positive and symhead_negative. Maybe only capitalization.

@Sigur I don't know as well. But according to the docs the author is around :)

@TeXnician, ohhhhhhhhhhh, I didn't observed that

@GermanShepherd Thanks a lot, these are wonderful!
@DavidCarlisle Thanks! Do they give credit cards to ducks?
@daleif @egreg Thanks!

3:05 PM
@marmot We should have a party! Invite all TikZlings!

@egreg Let's wait a bit. How can one have a TikZling party without their creator?

@egreg, good afternoon. If you have time, please, could you tell me the difference between symhead_positive and the negative one in imakeidx package? Thanks in advance.

@Sigur That's for .ist files. If headings_flag is nonzero, groups will be preceded by a heading. The string for symhead_positive is used if headings_flag>0, similarly for symhead_negative.

@egreg, thanks. So, another question, if you don't mind. I tested but no difference in my minimal example. What is difference between flag 1 and -1?
@egreg, oh. I see, I think.
Capital letters for headings...
Thanks again.

3:17 PM
@Sigur Right
@Sigur If you set heading_prefix, for instance, you may want to use lowercase “symbols”.

@egreg, I'm using this one: ` heading_prefix "{\\hspace*{0pt}\\bfseries<< "`
but for word prefix, I understand, it would be necessary.
Very interesting.

Reposting a classic. :)

7:09 PM
@marmot Thank you. It's always beautiful, I would have preferred that the source be attributed.

@AndréC I agree.
