@AlanMunn also on their colors: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/41?m=45311730#45311730 (I'd add blue)

@cfr I removed my comment on the proof tree. (I have actually no idea what that is supposed to be.)

TeX Collection DVDs to post today :)

Quack!
HAPPY CANADA DAY

@PauloCereda Quack
@PauloCereda Yay!
@PauloCereda I mailed the UK-TUG committee today about TUG2018: planning ahead :)

@JosephWright oh that's great!

1:50 PM
@PauloCereda :)
@PauloCereda Workshop should be good

@JosephWright Indeed!

@PauloCereda I'm hoping we might see a follow-up later in the year or perhaps next year

@JosephWright if a livestream link is available, we could use a chatroom for user interaction

@PauloCereda Livestream would be really good
@PauloCereda Certainly can look to live-text

@JosephWright The link exists, I just need to see if it will be used

1:53 PM
@PauloCereda I should schedule an event here to parallel the meeting
@PauloCereda Ah yes, of course

@JosephWright That would be very interesting!

@PauloCereda OK, what time is it scheduled for GMT?

Joseph Wright has added an event to this room's schedule.

@JosephWright don't do this to me, I am terrible with GMT!

Just figured out that LaTeX2e is on a very new version. Can I upgrade using texlive (tlmgr)?

@AndreasStorvikStrauman tlmgr update --self --all --reinstall-forcibly-removed?

@JosephWright Anything more specific? Like tlmgr update latex2e or something?

@AndreasStorvikStrauman No: from the point of view of TeX Live, the LaTeX kernel is just another package
@AndreasStorvikStrauman If you don't want a general update, you can of course just pick a specific package (here latex)

@JosephWright I did this (variants of tlmgr install latex --reinstall) but the version don't seem to update.

@AndreasStorvikStrauman Perhaps you need to force a format rebuild: fmtutil --sys --byfmt latex

3:55 PM
@JosephWright That seem to have updated the latex-command. The pdflatex command still provides the old latex version?!
@JosephWright But when I did fmtutil --sys --byfmt pdflatex after tlmgr install latex-bin collection-latex --reinstall it works like a charm. Thanks! +25 :D

4:26 PM
@AndreasStorvikStrauman It can happen ...

@AndreasStorvikStrauman imho --byfmt really creates only the explicit format (e.g. latex or pdflatex) and not the whole latex family.

4:44 PM
@DavidCarlisle so far, your $20 is safe. :)

@egreg What's the advantage of using your method for iCloud sync? (I don't use iCloud.)

@AlanMunn Mine is disabled. :)

@PauloCereda I use it only to back up my iPhone/iPad.

@AlanMunn I only have an old iPad, and it's disabled there too. :)

5:32 PM
@AlanMunn What method is that?

Q: How to change the directory of my own .sty files in MacOS?

PasseRight now, I save my own packages in the shown 'standard' directory. I can use this package in MacTeX with a simple \usepackage{} command. I want to backup my styles in iCloud without to copy it all the times. So I tried to create an alias but that is not working. Is there a way to change th...

@AlanMunn Oh. Myself, I turned off synchronization of the Desktop and Documents folder in iCloud at the time I turned on iCloud sync. This must have been long enough ago that I had forgotten all about it … anyhow, there isn't enough room in my (free) iCloud storage for my entire Documents folder.

@HaraldHanche-Olsen Yeah, me too. And I have a paid Dropbox account so I put everything there. And our college runs an OwnCloud server for our lab.

@AlanMunn Well, so that seems to answer your question to @egreg, then: If you don't sync Desktop and Documents and want your texmf files synced using iCloud, then you've got to deal with the ~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs path. But perhaps I misunderstood your question.

@HaraldHanche-Olsen Ah, ok. That wasn't obvious to me. But yes, that makes sense.

5:45 PM
@AlanMunn To wit, ~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs is the location known as iCloud in the left sidebar of Finder windows.

@HaraldHanche-Olsen That's the bit of information I was lacking. :)

@AlanMunn Apple is bending over backwards in order to have users not discover that for themselves.

@HaraldHanche-Olsen How very Windows of them.

@AlanMunn :)

@HaraldHanche-Olsen Exactly
@HaraldHanche-Olsen I cheated with a plain TeX file saved in the iCloud Drive with \input|"pwd" in it, which dutifully printed the path.

6:12 PM
@egreg You could just drag a document from within iCloud Drive into a terminal window.

6:25 PM
@egreg It might be helpful to add that to your answer, since it wasn't clear to me, and the OP accepted my answer (which of course works if you are syncing all your Documents folder).

8:30 PM
@marmot There are different senses of 'proof tree'. I just followed the link in the question to see which sort ....

@cfr Thanks!
