Is LuaTeX really that much slower than pdfTeX?

@yo' I think with TL 2015, it got much faster. But i don't have anything to support that.

@Johannes_B I run TL15 and I see a big difference. (Can't test anymore since the document cannot be compiled with pdflatex now, but I'm sure there is an issue)

@yo' I think it is considerably faster, but i haven't done any bigger projects lately. For the bigger ones, i have a conditional, so i can use some kind of pdftex preview.

@Johannes_B that would mean changing the fonts here, since that's what got me into the troubles...

@yo' I used libertine, so it wasn't that big of an issue. But output could change anyhow with pdftex vs luatex.

@yo' -- did you at least find a reasonable definition? synonyms: cockeyed, off kilter, screwed up, totally not giving valid results. (some more colloquialisms for you. there are others, but they're not ladylike, so i'll restrain myself.)

@JosephWright seems to be related to both tabularx and the fact that \tnote uses \rlap. Switching to tabular and something similar to the \NoteMark from the siunitx manual, does work. Sadly we need tabularx in this case.

@yo' -- original meaning: the condition of tangled-up wire that has just been removed from bales of hay. (also a good description of what happens to baling wire removed from bundles of newspapers.) there's really no way to keep it untangled and reusable. (another expression using the same component: to patch something up with "bubble gum and baling wire", in other words, a temporary fix that you hope holds together as long as needed. and the hope, as "on a wing and a prayer".)

Does anyone know how the topic meta-data on CTAN is managed? Is is up to authors or the CTAN people (or some combination?) Is there a way to make corrections? Just browsing casually I noticed that tikz-qtree is not listed in the linguistic topic (which should probably be linguistics).

@AlanMunn -- i think that the metadata is still mostly handled by gerd neugebauer. the whole structure and workings of ctan was one of the topics at the tug meeting, but my notes aren't specific about this. in any event, mail to ctan@dante.de will get your request to the right people.
