He's not here in this chatroom,,,,
Hmm, maybe I need some patience to learn emacs/auctex

@Daniel sorry Paulo's a big vi user so we have an ongoing war:-)
@Daniel everything I know about vi(m) is here:

I'll watch some youtube video on this.

haha
I always keep my small finger on the ESC when I'm using vim.....
I saw some guys using latex with vim, but I just feel it's more complicated than emacs based on what I've seen from youtube
I hope emacs/tex can save me more times as I got used to it. :-)

@DavidCarlisle My crystal ball tells me, this cannot work:

\documentclass[a4paper,12pt] %{scrartcl}
@Daniel Use the editor you feel most comfortable with. Even if it is nano.
@DavidCarlisle ssh and Vim on a Windows box? Feels like a Mario Cart Cartoon Cart in a Formula 1 race.

2 hours later…
8:40 AM
@Johannes_B vv
\documentclass[a4paper,12pt] %{scrartcl}
{memoir}

@DavidCarlisle Ok, you got me there, this would work. But it is not the case in the example at LaTeX-community.

@Johannes_B I guess not:-)

9:03 AM
@DavidCarlisle I just took another look at the example file and Oh my!!

\begin{center}
{\underline{\Large \textbf{Exercice 9 }}}

1 hour later…
10:14 AM
@Johannes_B Probably there is a rule by the Imprimérie Nationale that warrants such a combination. ;-)

10:47 AM
@JosephWright you converted an answer to a comment but isn't that the only answer (apart from close q as off topic or something?) tex.stackexchange.com/questions/186895/…

11:20 AM
@DavidCarlisle OK, a bit borderline but I'll undelete

1 hour later…
12:41 PM
@DavidCarlisle Hi : )

12:56 PM
Can I answer my own question?

@leonardocesar Yes
@leonardocesar There's I think a time delay for 'lower rep' users

@JosephWright thanks = )

I will probably turn things upside down with my new version of arara. :(
Guys, is it possible to inject a macro to be expanded inside a verbatim?

@PauloCereda anything's possible
@PauloCereda statistics don't lie? Apparently Brazil's done something right:

@DavidCarlisle Wow. :)

1:10 PM

@PauloCereda Not (easily) with the standard verbatim, but fairly easy with fancyvrb

@egreg hmmm interesting. :) I'll try to come up with some code.

@PauloCereda \begin{Verbatim}[commandchars=\!\[\]] would make ! a substitute for the backslash and [] for the braces.

1:12 PM
\catcode`P\active \def P{duck } \begin{verbatim} zzz Paulo zzzz \end{verbatim}
@PauloCereda @egreg is so much more disciplined than I am:-)

@leonardocesar Amadores. :)
@DavidCarlisle Wow!

@DavidCarlisle My name is of germanic origin, after all.

@egreg your name is egreg, we accept no other variants, Germanic or otherwise.

1:35 PM
are biblatex experts present?
Does anyone know what the biber warning
WARN - BibTeX subsystem: ... ... characters of junk seen at toplevel

@JosephWright Question flagged for migration from Stack Overflow on 23 May actually migrated now.

means?

@cgnieder That you have junk characters in your bib file. ;-)

@egreg :) It occurred when I updated the bib file with a newer version and references a file in /tmp/ that isn't even present... the result looks OK, though

@egreg: You're always faster than me (tex.stackexchange.com/q/186910/5645). I let SE send me an email when a new question is asked, and still there were 5 people faster closing the question than I was.

1:49 PM
@moose That's almost automatic. With a title such as “How to get a tensor product symbol” either it is a good question or it is a duplicate. ;-)

@egreg :-) I'm just wondering how you manage to be so active. I had to get up early today, because I'm currently in the US and my advisers (in Germany) want to talk with me. But no matter how early / late it is, you're always there (or David Carlisle). I think you (and David) have answered quite a lot of my questions, too.

@moose Thinking in LaTeX helps. ;-)

@egreg Haha :-) I think my girlfriend said once that she dreamed in LaTeX. If I remember correctly, it was a nightmare, though.

2:07 PM
@cgnieder: around? :)

@PauloCereda here I am :)

@cgnieder Mail sent. :)

@PauloCereda and arrived

@cgnieder woohoo! Actually, I had another idea, it can even be more simplified! :)
@cgnieder: any thoughts? :)

2:22 PM

@PauloCereda I think I like it. (I can't be sure until I've used the syntax myself... ;)
@PauloCereda It looks more verbose but also more intuitive

@cgnieder I think the whole arguments part can be supressed. The whole idea is that a command is now a closure on itself, so you can write the logic inside. :)

@PauloCereda so arguments would be part of commands?

@cgnieder New mail, check it out. :)
@cgnieder: the idea here is to have every command handle its own arguments. :)
IMHO it's simpler and easier to program. :) And the exit thing gives you a control on which value to expect as an exit status of the command. :)

2:44 PM
@PauloCereda I have a brilliant idea for arara!, why not have the user type the commands they need on the command line (there is a clue in the name)

@DavidCarlisle ooooh!
That's it, you are now on the core team. :)

@PauloCereda M-x shell

@DavidCarlisle o.O

@PauloCereda I like it!

@cgnieder And there's also a plus: you are able to return a list instead of just a command. :)
Lists within lists. :)

2:59 PM
@PauloCereda oh... there will be evil rules coming! ;)

@cgnieder I'm giving what our users want. :)

@PauloCereda Have you seen this?

Q: How can I optimize the arara password program?

cisGood evening, I have written the following (runable) arara-program, which creates a password-locked pdf with adjustable prohibited access rights. !config # GhostScript-ps2pdf password-security rule for arara # version: 0.1b # requires arara 3.0+ identifier: secure name: Secure command: <arara>...

@StephanLehmke Oh my!

3:48 PM
@PauloCereda Sorry, my bad. I sent him to you.

4:11 PM

@Johannes_B Don't worry. :)

@moose Congratulations for your first starred message! I looked at mine and discovered I got it after @PauloCereda!

@egreg Oh why, how did that happened?!

@PauloCereda I started joining the chat later than you.

@egreg oh. :(

1 hour later…
5:34 PM
Competing answers between me and DPC; guess who gets the green tick? :P

5:58 PM
@leonardocesar Depende muito do seu workflow. :) Com o tempo a gente vai aprendendo novos truques. :)
@egreg None. :)

@PauloCereda Wrong. ;-)

@egreg You, of course. :)

@PauloCereda Ssshhh, or @DavidCarlisle will know.

@egreg :)

6:16 PM
Very interesting question by @Stefankottwitz: texwelt.de/wissen/fragen/6783

6:29 PM
@egreg I'd have been worried if OP accepted mine, mainly that was intended to show how horrible was the result he was trying to achieve

7:07 PM
@DavidCarlisle Excuses. ;-)

1 hour later…
8:19 PM
@PauloCereda The first round of WC is over – you have a nice big round walk-in sculpture in Manaus now :-)

8:34 PM
@StephanLehmke LOL so true. :)

@egreg you need to steal some more

@DavidCarlisle Oh, no. I'm -7000 from 300K, you are -11000 from 200K. My plan is working. ;-)

@PauloCereda Well we just lost "Rock am Ring" - maybe you could get them to move to Manaus ;-)

@StephanLehmke Like Rock in Rio Lisboa? :)

@DavidCarlisle By the way, adding the footnotes only at non measuring time won't influence the measurement?

8:43 PM
@egreg a bit but it's only a rough estimate to allocate column widths it's not as if \let\[$ gives a fully acccurate measument of the size of a display math either.

9:31 PM
I hate it, the city is full of people, portable toilets everywhere ...

and the whole town is noisy.

@Johannes_B But on Sunday you'll have Blasmusik mit dem „Bergmusikkorps Saxonia Freiberg e.V.“ and fireworks at night!

@egreg Yeah :-)

@Johannes_B And possibly rivers of beer!

@egreg But the costs of the beer. They are not just giving it away.

@Johannes_B Too bad!

9:40 PM
@egreg Beer costs money :-(

@Johannes_B How much for half a pint?

@egreg The pub offers a guinness (not sure how much) for 2.50 Euro/3.50 Euro? Not sure.
@egreg usual sizes are .4 l or .5 l

@Johannes_B Well, not the typical Saxony beer.

@egreg The local beer was 50 cents cheaper.
@egreg The worst thing right now is the ferris wheel.

@Johannes_B Pils, obviously. ;-)
@Johannes_B Like in Vienna! I'm not going on it: I've suffered of vertigo and if possible I avoid things like that.

9:58 PM
@egreg It is huge, noisy and colourful
I should do a GoPro Video *Bergstadtfest* at 8 a.m.

It is terryfying.

10:13 PM
@Johannes_B Enjoy!

@egreg I'll try.
