The {0}, {1}… notation indicates a parameter added later by arara, for example.

If the message has no parameters, you can use ' (single quotes) normally, for example

Now, if the message has a parameter, you have to escape the single quote by doubling it, that is, add two single quotes together

I have \newcommand{\mcitem}{\textbf{\texttt{Item}}} in my document, but now if I write "the type \item allows" the space between "item" and "allows" is missing. Any suggestions?
@Flow Spaces after control sequence (with the name consisting of letters) are ignored because the space is used for terminating the control sequence name. Also a non-letter terminates the name, so {} can be used, because they do nothing. The following space will not be ignored.

@egreg In the UK, I tend to stick to about 60 mph (~110 km/h), but on the Autobahn will go to around 75 mph (~120 km/h) to try to avoid people closing too quickly. But every so often a car comes up really quickly.

@Brent.Longborough I think most users will use nonstopmode. Advanced users like @PauloCereda or so will use errorstopmode. It depends on the user skills. If the user is able to understand the error message he will work with errorstopmode
@PauloCereda @Brent.Longborough The reason why I like default settings in such cases is very simple. New "arara" users will use our predefined rules as a look up table and so we should provide robust and especially clear rules.
@MarcoDaniel I understand. :) In this specific case, I think it doesn't hurt to leave it empty, as it's probably the default behaviour of other TeX tools, like the engine configuration of TeXworks. And it doesn't hurt either. :)

We can't forget that when running in the "silent" mode, arara ignores the prompt, so if the user runs without --verbose, the action setup won't matter.
@Brent.Longborough: As mentioned if you don't use the verbose option of arara you have to run pdflatex with nonstopmode. So I think we should set all TeX engines with the default value nonstopmode. What do you think?

With xelatex you do not want to use inputenc which is for input encodings for the 8-bit tex and pdftex systems, load fontspec then you can access system fonts as shown below using Arial.
