@Videonauth @Faizan: It seems people vote only really on the stats. Well, most people do anyway it seems...
user136984
There are loads of people who have just have over 150 and know nothing about the site nor anyone else on it.
16:21
@Videonauth @ParanoidPanda I also wonder why so many downvotes. Anyway wish you people luck
Thank you :9 i might need it really
You're welcome :)

@ParanoidPanda Without the recent vote reversal, my candidate score would have been amazing 40/40 points... :-/
I guess I'll have to wait for the next elections.
By then I'll have them gained back again.
Next elections? Hmm
user136984
@ByteCommander: I wish people would vote based on the person rather than the stats, I mean, they are important too, but only really 25% important. It's the person and what they will do that really matters.
@ParanoidPanda or maybe they voted on the person who they think will be more suited for the role?
voted for the person*
user136984
@jokerdino: Most users have never had any proper interaction though with the candidates, so how would they be able to tell?
user136984
Gaining 150 rep isn't that hard you know.
18:37
sorry, not every 150 repper is voting here.
user136984
Well what's stopping them?
Lazyness.
Some of them haven't visited the site and some just don't vote.
user136984
People should look at the stats, look at what the person said in their nominations speech, and then look at their questionnaire and make their decision. Laziness is your biggest enemy.
user136984
I mean, if they know the person better then that too, but most probably won't...
18:40
No one's gonna sit and read 2000 word essay for all 30 of them.
user136984
Well what's the point in writing it then? If you're going to vote you should actually spend some time reading what each candidate thinks.
user136984
I've read them all you know.
Sorry mister, but I think I got some real work to do.
@jokerdino Mine has 2684 words...
user136984
18:42
Well, if people in real life never looked at what a candidate said and only at their names, we'd have a lot more problems... Well, if Trump gets in, maybe I will be proved wrong about the reality of things... :P
your expectation is not realistic.
A lot of voters do have some impression on the candidates.
In real elections (governments, etc. - not necessarily US presidents), do you think more than a few percent do read the manifesto of the political parties?
No, they look at the election posters, thinking, "Oh, that one looks nice. I'll give him my vote"
Not many have that kind of time to read through the agenda of all 786 candidates.
user136984
@ByteCommander: And that is exactly why we're in so much trouble right now...
I have nothing to say against that.
user136984

Democracy only works if the people voting actually know something about the subject they are voting on.
that statement leads me to the conclusion that it should not work.
On the other hands, bumblebees should theoretically not be able to fly, but they do anyway.
user136984
@ByteCommander: Why should bumblebees theoretically not be able to fly?
user136984
Also, they really have nothing to do with this...
user136984
You can't say that blind Democracy works because bumblebees can fly. :D
