At any rate, Marc said that he had an idea of where the problem might lie now, so he's going to look into it and hopefully it'll be resolved permanently.
@MarcGravell Also, don't know if you're aware, but this user made a sort of bot for chat over in the JavaScript room. Not sure if you care about that by itself, but I did mention to him to be mindful of his interactions with the server.
Yep. He seems pretty well-intentioned himself, but that's I figure that's the kind of thing that could get out of hand, so thought it was worth a mention.
Ok, so some of my questions get answered after a long time on SU, but many of my questions site idle for much longer than I'm used to on the SE network. I'm used to answer times of a day, not no answer in weeks.
Am I doing something wrong? Are my questions not clear, or are they lacking some i...
Currently the chat link on SE 2.0 sites takes you to the area in chat with a list of all the chat rooms. However, I would imagine many users would expect to see the chat link to a room dedicated to the SE 2.0 main site.
Should the chat link take you to the main room associated with each SE 2.0 s...
@CRoss Me too. Ever since it launched though, I've always had this image of its inception that involves everyone sitting around, shrugging their shoulders, and saying "Well shit, we've gotta do something about this non-programming PC crap that keeps popping up."
Which is/was true, but not really an auspicious beginning.
As opposed to say, "Oh man we're gonna make a Q&A site about programming and it's going to be awesome!"
@CRoss - I'm honestly conflicted. I am opposed to game-rec, but it seems petty to fault the system because people voted against the option I support. That's the whole point of democracy.
@CRoss Being American, I have been told my entire life that "Democracy is the best thing ever and the only reasonable way to rule as dictated by God". So even though, objectively, I realize that in many cases non-democratic solutions work very well, I still have that knee-jerk "GO DEMOCRACY BILLOWING FLAG SOARING EAGLE APPLE PIE" reaction to decision making.
@CRoss Well, you have to consider that many of the policies for federal government were half-measures because the states had a great deal of sovereignty back then - the federal covernment had to make concessions just to get them to sign up for it.
One thing I worry about is whenever we try to run the country based strictly on whatever we think "the founding fathers wanted". Firstly, they were about as agreeable as the regulars on gaming chat, and secondly, it's been a couple centuries, and it's quite possible that they didn't really cover everything that might apply in the modern day.
