@flawr Sorry, I didn't see this message.
y by default duplicates the second-top element of the stack. So it needs at least two elements on the stack. In your case there is only one, so implicit input is triggered and fails
To duplicate the top of the stack you use t

@LuisMendo ah thanks!
Now that I see your explanation I think I must have asked before.
Could you maybe add something to indicate this in the function table of the MATL specs?
like "duplicate 2nd element" or so because now it just says "duplicate element"
anoter : clickable hyperlinks from the function-table to the corresponding line in Appendix A. (I think it should be doable using the hyperrefpackage.)
13:03
@flawr The problem is, y allows $ or & meta functions, that modify which element is copied exactly. For instance``&y` copies duplicates third topmost element. Not sure how to give a very brief descriptio of that in the table
@flawr Good idea, but I'm afraid that's problematic as well. The table is in Excel, then printed to pdf, then inserted as an image
13:31
@LuisMendo do you use any special functions in excel or do you just use it as a convenient way to edit the table?
(or do you have any other data in your excel that is not displayed in the pdf?)

@flawr Just a convenient way to edit the table with backgrounds colours. It can probably be done in LaTeX, but I couldn't be bothered :-) There's not additional data
This is the file, in fact
Ah, it can't be previewed on Github

Would you use it if I made a latex-version of your table with the links? :)

@LuisMendo latexified
(there are two files in this paste)
I recommend using an editor with 2d text selection support (like notepad++)
22:21
@flawr Oooh!!
Thank you so much!
It looks great
That must have ben a lot of work!
Not too much using 2d selections in np++:)
Is there a way to have white font (for dark background colors)?
youd probably have to use an additional \textcolor{<color>}{<text>} or something like that
I'll try
I lik how all colors have six characters :-)
or alternatively one could replace the \cellcolor{<color>} command with a whole new command
then you could also include the text color into this new command
22:24
Yes, that's better
@LuisMendo I just wanted to make copy/pasting as easy as possible:)
\textcolor{white}{...} works
I don't really get how your appendix works, but I now think linking it wouldn't be a lot more work.
22:50
I now have it working with both cell color and text color in a single command, along the lines of
\newcommand{\colornrmidx}{\cellcolor[RGB]{51,102,255}\color{white}}
@flawr The contents of Table 6 are defined in file funFedTable.tex, which is generated automatically (by the Matlab function genFunDefTableLatex.m) from funDef.txt, which is the file that defines MATL functions (the last column for each function is its description to be included in the LaTeX file)
So, linking to that may be difficult
How do you link to a table row?
That seems to be straightforward (but I haven't tested it)
What I need now is to automatically generate the \labels in the rows of Table 6 and the hyperrefs (without additional coloring) in the rows of table 4
I'll do it in a few days, hopefully
Thanks again!
@flawr ^

Hm the automatic label generation seems more difficult than I anticipated, because of LaTeX special characters
